Who Am I?
A New Home
Riki
I'd walked into the main tent and my collar had shocked me like it always did when he was looking for me. I fall to my knees trying to lessen the pain that was going through my body. After a few seconds, I got up, brushing the dirt off of my knees and looking up at him with a glare. "There she is," He says to a woman and those guys from Exo that are standing there. I swear I wanted to beat the shit out of him, considering that he was smiling brightly and saying that I was here like nothing happened. "What was that?" The woman barks at him, something in her eyes told me she was being protective of me. But why? I was just some girl at the circus. "It's what tells her when I'm looking for her. When I press the button, she returns to the main tent." He says confused on why she was shouting at him. "Get that thing off her!" She yells and he presses the button again out of 'surprise' and I fall to my knees again, gritting my teeth. My fingers uselessly pull at the collar as the Exo boys quickly surround me, trying to lessen the pain although they didn't know what to do. He pushes through the boys and reluctantly unlocks the collar from around my throat, taking it and going back to the woman. "But why?" He asks and I see that veins in the woman's neck bulge. "Starting today, this girl is no longer your main attraction. With this evidence, it's obvious that this girl is being abused." She says and I stare at her dumbfounded. "MWUH!" He roars and I flinch, he usually yelled like that when he was about to beat me. "This girl is no longer in your care!" The woman roars back and turns to me, causing me to unconsciously back up a little bit. "Hon, go pack your things. Don't forget anything." She says softly before turning back to him. I stand up, it hadn't sunk in yet and I go to my trailer with Exo following me. They waited outside as I threw things in my trunk and ripped up the costume that I'd had to wear for years now. I go out feeling like I'd forgotten something and Kris goes into the trailer, I think to make sure I hadn't forgotten anything. I think back to when I'd told the thug girl about what Kris was like up close and my cheeks warm up a bit. "So what's your name?" What looked to be the youngest one asks and before I can answer, Kris comes out of my trailer. "Is you name Riki?" He asks and I look at him, then the cardboard box in his hands. That's what I'd forgotten, the things I'd had when I'd been found on the streets. I quickly grab it from him as the woman comes out of the main tent looking like she'd won a battle. She stands in front of me smiling and I ask "Excuse me, but who are you?" She grins and says "Me? I'm just like you." I stare at her. Did she just say she was like me? So I'm not the only one? "So are they," She motions at Exo and they wave at me. It suddenly comes crashing down on me and I panic. Now that I was free from him, what was I going to do? How was I going to live? "But, where am I going to stay?" I ask her and she laughs softly. "Well since you don't have anything, I've prepared an apartment for you and a bank account with enough money to last you for a month or so." I look at her like she's crazy. "Why? It's not like you know me or anything." "Because any she wolf in existence is always a daughter of mine." She replies and leads me to a SUV as Exo get into a van. One of the men in suits puts my luggage in the trunk and I sit in the backseat next to the woman. As they start driving, the woman hands me a folder filled with papers. "I've entered you into the same school as Exo so you have someone to talk to. Those papers are for the school and the top five pages are a small test to see what level you're on in school." I nod and she hands me a pen. I pull out the top five papers and finish it within a minute, realizing the questions were easy. The car stops and the woman announces that we're at my apartment. We step out with Exo's van behind us and I stare up at the expensive looking apartment complex. The woman grabs my hand and leads me into the building, greeting the guard and calling an elevator. Getting into it, she punches the twelfth floor and the elevator goes up so fast that it pops my ears. The elevator dings open and she pulls me to the last door on the left. The presses 2615 into the code and the door unlocks. She pulls me in and says "This is your new apartment. Let's go sit down and get your paperwork straightened out." I just stare at the humongous apartment, it even had a second floor. Going from a small trailer to a big apartment like this is kind of weird. The woman pulls me into the living room and has me sit down on the couch next to her. She takes the folder from my hands and pulls out a couple sheets of paper. "Full name?" She asks me. "Kang Riki." "Birthday?" "May 6, 1995." I answer, suddenly remembering the year I was born. I shake my head, wondering how I knew that. She asks me a bunch more questions and writes down the answers on the papers. After a while, she shows me my room and tells me to get some sleep. She left, but I didn't feel like sleeping, so I looked around my apartment. The upstairs was basically a huge area that looked over the first floor. There were video game systems set up and an empty space at the back with mirrors which looked like a dance studio. Everything suddenly started to catch up to me and I quickly turn off the lights in the apartment and fall asleep on one of the couches on the second floor, thinking that tomorrow would be an interesting day.
