Let's Fly

Chapter 8

Jinyoung's POV

Park Soyul
...why do I feel like I've heard that name before?

Soyul's POV

I look down at the adress in my hands and then back up. I repeat this action multiple times in disbelief.
I'm standing in front of a glass building that almost seems tall enough to be a skyscraper. I squint and try to see the top without letting the sun blind me. It's probably at least fifty stories high. The sunlight is reflecting off the glass windows and creating a pool of light on the building next to it. It must be terrible living right where the sun rays are pointing.

There seems to be a nonstop flow of people coming in and out of the building. Most of them look wealthy and important. It's like everyone knows what they need to do and has a purpose. I gape at the building a bit more before shaking my head and once again looking down at the adress in my hands.

That's strange. I don't seem to have made any mistakes in finding the adress. Everything looks correct. The building number, the street, etcetera. Now all that's left is to verify the apartment number.

10A

I take my time waking to the entrance so I don't hit anyone with my stuff by accident. I pass the doorman who gives me a polite smile, which I return gratefully. It's nice to see a friendly face out of all the grim looking people here. Honestly, it's like someone died.

The lobby is a grand place with high ceilings and chandeliers. There are armchairs and couches arranged neatly in multiple parts of the room. The floor is sparkling clean and slightly slippery. I'll need to remember that since I tend to have very bad luck with floors that are even the slightest bit slippery.

I expected the lobby to be packed, but there seems to be a designated pathway for all the people entering and leaving the building. No one has strayed from that path besides me. Besides that, the lobby doesn't seemed to be used for anything else besides being an exit way.

I take the elevator up to the tenth floor and start to locate my room. I was prepared to look for quite a while, but I'm surprised that it's the first door to the right.

I'm about to insert my key when I hear yells.

"It's been ages since we started working on this, yet you still can't get it right! Do you even try?!" a voice shouts.

"Of course I do! Unlike you who just tells everyone what to do without doing anything yourself! Why do you think you've been training longer than everyone else?!"

I quickly back away from the door.

"My training time doesn't mean anything! There just weren't enough trainees to form a group at the time!"

"Well you could've gone solo!"

"It's not that easy, and you know that!"

The door is suddenly yanked open and I come face to face with a terrifying monster — in human form. She has black wavy hair and designer brand clothing, but her face is wearing the most amazing death glare I've ever seen. I almost feel like her eyes are going to pop out from staring like that.

The girl shoves past me and stomps away — her hair flying in all directions. Her handbag is swinging enough to hit anyone within five feet of her and send them to the emergency room.

"I'm not going to chase after you again!" a voice yells from inside the room.

I slowly creep toward the door once again and peer in.

There is a girl who looks around my age sitting on the floor. Unlike the other girl, she's wearing normal clothing and her brown hair is tied into a messy bun. She seems to be emitting an aura of complete rage and fury, so despite being very pretty, I wouldn't go near her right now.

Clothes are strewn all over the floor and stray papers are covering almost every surface. There's a table right in front of the floor to ceiling window, which is part of the building's glass exterior. The sun happens to be shining right through the window, just like I had been hoping it wouldn't.

Besides the table, there's a couch, a television, and not much more than that. It's pretty empty besides the huge mess of belongings on the floor.

My attention turns back to the girl on the floor, and I realize she's staring straight at me now. I jolt in surprise and quickly come out of my hiding spot.

"Hello, I'm Park Soyul, a new trainee at WM Entertainment." I say, bowing uncertainly.

She seems to have snapped out of her brief breakdown and gets up from the floor, brushing herself off. She looks slightly surprised to see me, but then takes a deep breath and smiles.

"I heard you were coming. You were supposed to meet Yoona, too, but she was being a —" she mumbles the rest of her sentence with fists clenched tightly.

She immediately comes around again and offers her hand for me to shake. I take it and try to smile back at her.

"I'm Nam Eunyoung. You're from Busan, right?" she says, shaking my hand vigorously.

"Yeah, I probably need to work on getting rid of my dialect." I sigh.

Eunyoung shakes her head, smiling.

"I like it. Of course they're going to make you work on our dialect, but you don't need to completely get rid of it. Even B1A4's Jung Hwan hasn't fully gotten rid of his Busan dialect and he's already a big star." she says reassuringly.

"That's nice." I say nervously. The mention of Jung Hwan is making me feel confused all over again.

"Yep. Anyway, you're probably wondering about who that girl was." she says.
I nod without saying anything.

"That was Kim Yoona." she continues, "She's a bit spoiled and she's been a trainee for ages so she's a bit full of herself sometimes. Well not sometimes, but most of the time. She also doesn't really like anyone and she likes to tell people what to do. There's also — you know what? Nevermind. Just do your best to avoid her for the time being."

Well that explains all the designer brand clothing and death stares.

"Anyway, how did you come here?" she asks.

Um...I walked?

"I received this address from the CEO of the company." I answer hesitantly.

She puffs up her cheeks and slowly releases her breath.

"Well, he's always been unorganized. This is actually where Yoona lives. She lives separately from the rest of us because she wants to. Normally it wouldn't be allowed, but everyone always lets the spoiled brat do whatever she wants. I don't know for sure since I never asked, but apparently she's the daughter of some important person. Don't ask her or else it'll be hard to get her off her high horse again." Eunyoung explains.

Well, Eunyoung must really dislike Yoona. I don't blame her though — she didn't seem like a very likable person.

"Alright then. If that's the case, how do I have the key to this place?" I ask.

Eunyoung raises her eyebrows.

"Did you try using it?" she asks.

"No, not yet."

She holds out her hand.

"Hand it to me." she says.

I take the key out of my pocket and place it in her hand. She glances at it and nods.

"This is the key to our actual dorm. Thank God for that. I was thinking you might actually have to live with Yoona." she says cheerfully.

I can't help but feel relieved myself. No matter how fancy this building may be, the apartment is a mess. Plus, it's the home to a human monster.

"Where's the actual dorm?" I ask.

"Oh, you're going to love it." she replies with a sly smile.

---------

If possible, I'm in even more disbelief than before.

"What...is that?"

Eunyoung turns on her heels to face me.

"Home, sweet home!" she exclaims, grinning.

I thought I prepared myself pretty well for anything, but I've just been proven wrong.
The building I'm looking at is a bright pink floral shop. It's much shorter than the previous building — about three stories high.

The display in front of the store is unbelievable. There are all sorts of bright floral arrangements covering the entire space except for the entrance. It's almost as if the wall is made entirely out of plants.
Eunyoung leads me around the building to a staircase that must lead inside.

"So, everyone knows you're coming already, but I should let you know not all of them are happy about it. We had to empty a room out, you see. The others don't really like cleaning." Eunyoung explains at an amazing speed while we approach the door.

"There's also the floral shop owner —" she continues, "she's a bit strange. She's still pretty nice, but there's something off about her. You'll know what I mean when you meet her."

Eunyoung rummages through her pocket and pulls out her key to the house. The keyhole and doorknob look extremely rusted and old. The door, on the other hand, looks freshly painted and brand new. I'm not surprised that it's also bright pink.

Creeeeeeaaaaak.

The door hinges sound like a chorus of chalk scratching against blackboards. I cringe at the sound and feel chills going through my body.

The interior of the house is surprisingly normal. There is a wooden staircase off to the right, and a living room to the left. The furniture is quite modern and the floor looks shiny and new. The wooden floorboards are much smoother than where I used to live. The walls have also been painted a baby blue color.

"I'M HOME!" Eunyoung yells loudly.

There is no response.

"NEW GIRL IS WITH ME!" she adds.

I hear loud scuffling from above and different voices speaking rapidly.

"They canceled all our training today so we only had our classes from morning to early afternoon. That's why everyone's here. I think there are some meetings going on today. They must be really important because our training is rarely canceled." Eunyoung explains.

A girl comes walking out of the living room. She's pretty small and looks younger than Eunyoung. Her black hair is braided into pigtails and she's holding a book in one hand.

The girl stops in front of us and stares at me. She keeps a blank face on and doesn't move until Eunyoung clears her throught loudly. She shifts her stare to Eunyoung.

"Eunbi, this is Park Soyul. Soyul, this is the youngest trainee at WM Entertainment, Eunbi. She's fifteen years old." Eunyoung explains.

I give a weak smile to Eunbi which she surprisingly returns. She grabs my hand and shakes it.

"Well, you seem nice enough. I was worried you'd be another one like Yoona. Let's get along well." she says brightly.

All I did was smile. I guess she judges people by their smiles.

"Thank you." I say.

Eunbi goes back into the living word without another word.

Not long after, two more girls come down the stairs. The first one to introduce herself is tall and has her light golden hair tied into a ponytail.

"Hi, I'm Kang Hae In. It's a pleasure to meet you." she says in a business-like tone. She gives me a curt nod.

Eunyoung whacks her arm.

"Stop pretending to be all sophisticated. We all know who you really are." she hisses In a joking manner.
Hae In grins and holds out her hand, which I take. We shake hands and then she moves aside for the remaining girl to introduce herself.

She has shoulder-length dark brown hair and bangs. She's about my height and is frowning slightly.

"So you're the reason why we were forced to clean." she says, narrowing her eyes.

Hae In pokes her in the side and she widens her eyes in surprise.

"Don't do that!" she exclaims.

"Just introduce yourself and get it over with." Hae In says.

The girl rolls her eyes and holds out her hand.

"I'm Shin Ah Young. Nice to meet you, I guess." she mumbles.

I shake her hand, too and smile.

"Park Soyul." I say.

Is that all? I was expecting more people to be here. There's me, Eunyoung, Eunbi, Hae In, and Ah Young. That's five people. Wait, there's also Yoona who doesn't even live here. Six people. That's not too bad.
"Oh, there's one more of us." Eunyoung says, as if she read my mind.

"Who?" I ask.

"Yoon Jinah," answers Ah Young. "But she's upstairs locked in her room. She's not quite recovered yet from her double eyelid surgery. Her face is still swollen up pretty bad. Hopefully it'll be better by tomorrow."

I completely forgot about plastic surgery. It didn't cross my mind that a trainee I was going to meet might have plastic surgery. It's probably not mandatory — I hope not.

Hae In leads upstairs and shows me to my room, which I'll be sharing with Eunyoung. It's quite cozy and clean. There are two small desks and beds. There's also an empty wardrobe which I'm guessing is for me.

I wait for Hae In to leave and flop down on my bed, facedown.

"What a day." I whisper to myself.

I know the day isn't even over yet, but it might as well be. I'm exhausted.
