Unbearble

She leaned against the concrete wall, exhaling. It’s been exactly three minutes since she left that suffocating room. Three minutes since she nearly ran out the door the second her radio buzzed asking for her. And three minutes since N told her to stay away from Leo.

She had thought he was going to scold her for being involved with his friend. Scold her because it wasn’t allowed at her job or in Leo’s profession. Scold her because it was unprofessional.

Something in her chest stirred at the thought of not seeing or being near Leo again. She shook her head.

No. Unprofessional.

She couldn’t be unprofessional in her line of work. That’s what she was here for. To do her job. Not to see to others and make sure they’re satisfied. What was wrong with her? How could she put hers and someone else’s career on the line?

Ezra promised she wouldn’t divulge into his whims or anyone elses.

Taking a deep breath, with her resolution in mind, she pushed herself off against the wall and began her trek to her crew. Rounding the corner quickly, she bumped into a warm body. Large, slender hands grabbed her arms to steady her.

“I’m so sor-” Ezra looked up to meet Leo’s eyes. As if on fire, she brought her hands up against his chest and pushed him away forcefully.

Leo let go surprised at her out lash.

“Excuse me,” she mumbled.

He was about to grab her arm but Ezra quickly stepped aside and darted past him.

Leo turned to look at her retreating back. His face was stoic as always, however, the corner of his mouth slipped downward.
