The Gamer Girl... Idol?
Prologue
May 16, 2001
'HAPPY BIRTHDAY ARIA!!!,' screamed the crowd as I walked through the door. A smile appeared on my face as I took off the blindfold that covered my eyes. I squealed with excitement and ran to my friends who were setting off party poppers. But before I could join them, my Dad came up to me with a cake with five candles on the top.
'Make a wish Ari,' said my Dad with a toothy grin.
Only Dad calls me Ari, it's not a common name in Australia but he says it is in South Korea, where he was born. My friends think its weird so they just call me Aria.
'I wish that Mummy can come back from her trip.' I said innocently as I blew the candles out. I smiled but when I looked at Dad he wasn't smiling.

Dad promised to teach me Korean! Whenever I hear Dad talk on the phone to his mother in Korean, I want to learn so badly.

I was at Sarah's house for a sleepover (or slumber party as other countries say). It's strange because I already slept over twice last week. Dad said that he went to see the doctor and he needs to get more tests, but I don't know what that means. Since Mum isn't back from her trip, only Dad takes care of me so I have to go to one of my friend's houses if he's gone.

It's cancer... That's why Dad has been going away alot. He told me he was fine, but he wasn't. He told me Mum went on a trip, but I hear the whispers around the school halls and I'm old enough to understand what they are talking about. My mum ran off with another man and abandoned me and my Dad. Dad never told me he had prostate cancer, apparently he had it when he was getting all those tests done a few years ago.

Tears slid down my face as I stared at the tombstone. Why did you have to die? I heard footsteps behind me and I quickly turned around but I gasped in horror.
'Mum?!'

I hastily grabbed whatever clothes I owned and threw them in my suitcase. The smell of cigarette smoke was creeping through the cracks of my door and I gagged. I can't take this anymore. I packed my laptop, my iPod and phone and my Korean textbooks which my b*tch of a Mother never touched because it would remind her of Dad. After all my things were packed I held my breath and marched out down the stairs to where the front door was. My face throbbed where my Mum hit me compelled me to walk faster. When I finally got out of the house of hell I heard a shout.
'Never come back!'
I turned around with a smirk on my face as I looked my Mother right in the eye, 'I don't intend to, you soul sucking b*tch.'
She didn't seemed phased by my sharp words, she probably thinks I'm going to come crawling back to her in a week or so. She thinks I have no money. But I found a note in one of my Korean textbooks that my Dad gave me for my 11th birthday and it was a note all in Korean and it gave me the details of his secret bank account that had most of his money which would set me up for a few years maybe more if I use it wisely. What am I going to do you ask? I received an email last night from SK Telecom asking me to join one of their League of Legends teams and although I won't get paid much, it'll be what I like to do.
But now its time to let go of Aria Leeman and say hello to Lee Ari.
Sorry that it was a bit of a long prologue, I wanted to include as much background info as I could. Also, I'm sorry that there was nothing about kpop yet >.< that will come up soon.
Hiya, there! Hope I don't bug you too much with my question. It's slightly short of a full year since this fic last surfaced. Just wondering if you were still writing fanfics and/or if your story "Gamer Girl" is still alive somewhere. Or, did it disappear down the black hole that's somewhere in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle never to be seen again? I still like it up to the point you last touched it! I've even re-read it at least a couple times. Tks for your time. PsiWren
