Cherries and Chocolates

“I’ll keep on calling you until you pick up….” Kevin read the text from one of her girlfriend, the one Noah saw him kissing with.
“Ahhhhh she’s getting on my nerves.” He glared at her text with half opened eyes. He was still sleepy. It was 2am. He got out of the bed and went to the washroom. He turned the light on and say his slightly bleeding nose. “Omo…..” He wiped it and washed his face. He held back his tears. “Just how will I live my life like this!!! Damn you Noah!!! You made my life hell.” He looked at the mirror. He came out and ate the medicine Jessica prescribed to him. His cell kept on ringing. “I am waiting for you.” He read anoter text from her. “Ah Damn you too, SeRa……. She won’t be satisfied unless I go and meet her. What the hell!!!!” He again laid on his bed. “He loves Noah….. PABO Byunghun…… I have to do something before something happens to him too.” He licked his lips while thinking of a plan.

NEXT DAY IN UNIVERSITY
“Kevin….” Hana waved.
“Ahhhh…. What to do now!!!!” He whispered to himself.
“How are you doing?”
“Get lost Hana… I am not in the mood to talk to you!” Kevin replied rudely.
“W-What?”
“Are you deaf?”
“OMG Kevin…. Why are you playing ‘cold boy’ with me?”
“Didn’t I tell you to fu** off!!!! These girls!!!! I am just fed up…. You girls don’t have brains….”
“Calm down Kevin… lets think of a way out…..”
“OUT OF WHAT?” He yelled and people standing there stared at him.
“Sorryy….” He said to everyone.
“I-I thought I had a chance.”
“Absolutely not! I kissed you to make Noah jealous… noting else. Why are you thinking hard over it????” He shrugged his shoulders.
Hana’s eyes were teary. “So you like her?”
He burst out in laughter. “If I say I want to make her feel jealous, does that mean I like her??? That’s really funny Hana… There isn’t any girl perfect for me…..” He smiled.
“Soon….. there will be a girl, you’ll die to live with and she would just reply you like this ‘didn’t I tell you to fu** off?’
“Oh really, well I’ll be glad if that ever happens.” He replied and she left.
“Kevin…” Bomi arrived.
“Oh man……. Why are all these girls not leaving me alone?”
“Stop it already…..”
“You stop stalking me…. it’s once and for all; I don’t like you anymore.”
“Stop hurting me…. jebal.” She whined.
“Stop irritating me…. it won’t have any effect on me. At one time, I have to deal with you, Sera, Noah, Hana…. Where should I hide?”
“Isn’t it all your fault?
“Bomi…..” Byunghun called her. “Whacha ya doin here?” He asked excitingly. Noah was standing beside him.
“Oh hi….” She wiped her eyes.
“Well, Noah… she is Bomi…. Our highshool friend. She used to always end up in a serious trouble.”
“Annyahaseo….” Noah bowed slightly.
“I’ve met her. You got a nice girl.” Bomi smiled weakly.
“Aha Welll…… that….” He rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment.
“But I hope… you both really do end up together.” She said and then looked at Kevin. “before someone else jumps in.”
“Don’t worry Bomi… I won’t let that ‘somebody’ do that ever again….” Byunghun said while glaring at Kevin.
“You guys keep on complaining…. I am outta here.” Kevin said and left.

Byunghun walked Noah to her home.
“Well, gomawo….” She said while opening the door to her apartment.
“Won’t you ask me to come?”
She seemed a bit confused. “You can at your own risk….” She said while hesitating. He entered like a boss. She closed the door. He sat on the mat.
“Ah I like it here….” He placed both his hands at the mat a bit backward. He stared at Noah and smiled. Noah stared back with a poker face. They kept on staring into each other’s eyes. Noah exhaled and looked away.
“You lost…..” Byunghun teased. “Let’s do it once more.”
“You wanna die?” Noah asked with a poker face.
His heart beat rose. “Are you admitting that you love me back?” He asked.
She leaned against the door.
“Tell me……” He again asked. She remained silent. “Come here…. Please…..”
She looked at him and then slowly walked towards the mat and sat on it, while being at a distance.
He dragged himself closer to her.
“Don’t….” She warned.
“Oh please…. Stop hesitating already. Kevin’s still alright!”
“It might take time.”
“What if I say I don’t care about it?”
“Huh…..” She moved her face away from his gaze. “My father said the same thing but ultimately he wasn’t happy at all when he got the disease.
“I am not your dad….” He leaned closer. “Please love me back…”
“I cant…… Don’t make it difficult for me.”
“When I said I don’t care…. It has become easier for you to decide.”
She looked back at him. He moved forward towards her but then the bell rang at the door before he could kiss her.
“Damn….” He whispered while being close to her lips. She blushed and stood up to open the door.
He looked at her as she went to open the door. He was always so amused watching her do things even walking. It seemed cute to him. He looked at the lady who was standing outside. She seemed to be a noble lady. She was wearing a surgical mask with gloves. His mind clicked. “Its Dr. Jessica….” He thought and stood up as well as she was staring at him.
“Unnie…” Noah murmured.
Jessica looked back at Noah.
“H-how come you are here?” She asked while looking surprised.
“Noah… you idiot…..”
“I am sorry, I told him to leave…..”
“I am not talking about him! Tell me…..” She grabbed her collars. “Did umma stayed at your house before leaving for her project?” She asked angrily.
“Y-ye……” Noah replied.
Jessica slapped her. “You killed her, Noah…..” She said.
“No….. STOP LYING!” Noah screamed.
Byunghun stepped forward but Jessica signaled him to stop right there.
“Ye…. She died a day ago.” Jessica’s eyes were teary. “It seemed that you transmitted the virus to her!”
“No….” She fell on the ground and started weeping. “NOOOO….. THAT’S ALL A LIE…..” She yelled.
Byunghun’s heart was cut into pieces. He wasn’t able to see her like this.
“Noah… cut all your ties with me… I wont support you anymore… pay your rent on your own and do stuffs on your own…. Or ask your boyfriends to help you.
“I know you’ve suffered a lot. But you are not allowed to say harsh things to her. Everyone has the right to love another.” Byunghun said.
“Oh I didn’t know you were this good at seducing men…..” She said and smacked the door before leaving.
Noah didn’t hear what Jessica said. She just couldn’t believe that the last tie to her family vanished because of her. She was crying. Byunghun sat on the floor and hugged her.
“STAY AWAY!” She yelled and pushed him away. “Just leave me alone….”
“Noah…” He whispered her name. She felt a bit dizzy and went unconscious.
