Yijung finally arrives at the hospital. “The officers have just gone to get some coffee.” Melinda explains. “They’ll be back to question me and Yukwon.” When the nurse leaves the room, Yukwon whispers to Yijung.
“Yijung, tell Melinda not to say anything about what happened.”
“Why?” Yijung asks with wide eyes.
“Just trust me. It’s better for all of us if she just lies.”
Yijung looks at the injured man with concern but has nothing to say back. He eventually nods and translates to Melinda.
“What does he mean ‘better for all of us’?” Melinda asks irritated.
Yijung shrugs his shoulders.
“Ask him!” Melinda says.
“She really doesn’t want to get involved with my business. Just tell her to say I was knocked out in front of her house.” Yukwon insists.
Yijung tells Melinda the plan. Melinda is just about to retort but the police officers walk in with coffee cups in their hands.
“If you would come with us.” One of them says in Hangul. Yijung translates for Melinda and they all leave the room. Yukwon is left alone to worry about her; he hopes she doesn’t get involved with BLOCK B business.

“Did we really have to travel all the way to the police station for the questioning?” Melinda scoffs. Yijung echoes her words in Hangul. “They said yes.” He tells her. She rolls her eyes at the ridiculousness. They lead her into the interviewing room, and it’s just like it is in the movies. She sits in one of the two chairs and one police officer sits across from her, his elbows resting on the table. Yijung stands next to her and the other police officer stands next to his colleague.
“Why are we in this room? Are you treating me like a criminal?” Melinda asks while crossing her arms over her chest.
“They’re just taking precaution. You are a suspect after all.” Yijung repeats.
“How am I a suspect? I helped the man!” Melinda can feel anger boiling inside her.
“They don’t know for sure. They question who ever was with him at that time. In fact, they’re also going to question me because I was with you when we dropped him off at the hospital.” Yijung makes an anxious expression. Melinda smiles to reassure him that everything will be OK.
“So what do they want to know?” Melinda asks.

She goes along with Yukwon’s plan. Every answer is a lie.
“What time did you find him?”
“12:30 in the morning.” She replies.
“How did you find him?”
“He was unconscious in front of my house so I decided to help him.”
The two police officers look at each other dubiously.
“They don’t believe you.” Yijung says.
“Did you see anything at all? Anyone who was with him? A weapon?” they ask.
Melinda shakes her head.
The police officers sigh and start to question Yijung. He makes his story perfectly match and fit with Melinda’s. The police officers finally let them get back to the hospital.

Yijung explains the questioning to Yukwon who can now sit upright in his bed. Yukwon nods and is grateful that these people followed his instructions. “Thank you for not telling them the truth.” Yukwon smiles. They wish him a speedy recovery and leave. Yukwon has never met such nice strangers in his life. They saved him, they helped him, they visited him, and they lied for him. He never knew people like this existed in the world.
