I'll be your light

After uni, Melinda usually works at her part time job. She drives to the café owned by a friend. She parks her car and walks the rest of the way there. When she enters her manager embraces her. “Nice to see you too Cameron.” She smiles. “It’s been so long since I’ve seen you.” He pouts. Although he is a grown man, he still acts like a cute little kid. “You saw me last week.” Melinda says confused. “A week is such a long time!” he whines. Melinda gets to work; she takes orders and sometimes makes the coffee. She doesn’t make the coffee often though, she is too scared she will make a mistake and burn herself. Her eyes find the clock on the wall, her shift is almost over. While she is walking back to the counter someone grabs her waist from behind, she gasps and turns to see who it is, a smile of relief spreads on her face when she sees who it is.
“You’re early.” She smiles.
“I got off work early today.” Yijung smiles.
Cameron is suddenly at Melinda’s side. “Who is this?” he raises his eyebrows.
“Cameron this is my friend Yijung, Yijung this is my manager Cameron.” Melinda introduces them to each other.
“You can call me Jordan.” Yijung smiles.
Cameron makes a confused face.
“It’s his English name” Melinda says.
“Is this the boy you leave with every Wednesday?” Cameron asks while nudging her arm.
“Yes he is.”
Cameron giggles and frolics away. “He’s… nice.” Yijung smiles. “I still have 20 minutes left on my shift. You think you can wait?” Melinda asks her friend. He nods and finds a table to sit at. “While you’re still here, can I order a chai latte please?” Yijung laughs. Melinda scribbles the order down on her note pad and nods. While making a chai latte, Melinda is approached by Cameron. “So…are you and Jordan dating?” he asks while inspecting her coffee making skills. “No. He’s just a friend.” Melinda laughs. “And I don’t think I’m ready for a relationship yet…” Cameron swings his hands in the air. “Melinda! It’s been three years since you and Leo broke up. Get over it, move on, and date Jordan.” He insists. Melinda scoffs and rolls her eyes. “You say it as if it were easy.” She says. She finishes making the latte and carefully brings it over to Yijung. Standing next to Yijung are three girls getting a napkin signed. “Who are they?” Melinda asks when they leave smiling. “Just fans.” He smiles. Yijung is in the modeling industry, he’s not an all out famous model yet, he just does photoshoots for small magazines. But soon, he will be widely known.

“Are we ready to leave?” Yijung asks Melinda. She takes off her apron and nods. “Cameron! I’ll be going now!” she shouts back to her manager. Cameron waves good-bye and gives her a thumbs up. She smiles and leaves with her friend.
“Gayun and Hyun aren’t coming today.” Yijung informs Melinda. “They’re on a date.”
“That’s alright. It’s not like they play pool with us anyways. They’re always in the corner kissing each other or doing something gross.” Melinda sticks out her tongue in disgust.
“Everyone else will be there though.”
“Seungpyo and Hyroin?”
“Yes.”
“Good. We have a score to settle with them in a game of pool.”
