~ Your POV ~

I was having a nice dream until I heard someone scream my name.
"Mi Cha! Mi Cha! Wake up! We gotta go!!" It was my brother, Eli.
"Okay.. Where are we going?" I get up slowly rubbing my head. I check the clock and it's only 3am.. 3AM?!?!
"Ya! It's only 3am! I'm going back to sleep." Right when I was about to lie down again, Eli grabs my arm.
"We gotta go to the hospital, NOW! Dad's in critical condition. The doctor said this might be the last chance!" Tears stream down my brother's face and onto my hand.
"What?! Okay, okay. I'm sorry Eli, I'll be quick so go and start the car." I rush to the bathroom and brush my teeth. I put on the first set of clothes I see and rush out the door.

--HOSPITAL--

Eli and I ran into dad's room and we see doctors and nurses surrounded his bed. One of the doctor's turn to us and explains whats happening.
"Mr. Kim is in terrible condition, we need to operate on him quick! There's no other way so please decide now. Once you've made the decision, go to the front desk to get the information about this operation. A room will be open in one hour, we will wait for your decision till then." The doctors and nurses left the room. I grabbed dad's hand, my eyes began to water but I held them in and smiled.
"Dad, don't worry. You'll be fine so just bear with it a little longer okay? Pinky promise."

~ Eli's POV ~

I watch Mi Cha grabbing his hand and telling him everything's going to be fine. It breaks my heart to see this, dad was always there for me. Encouraging me to continue pursuing my dream, making sure that everything was fine every now and then, I can't let him die! No! It won't happen. No matter what I have to save him! But how? Even though I'm in U-Kiss, I don't have a lot money.. I debuted not very long ago! Stepmom's in America, she doesn't even care about us. Not a single phone call for the past 6 months, I doubt she'll lend us the money. Mi Cha's in high school, she needs to focus on studying not worrying about money. What am I going to do?! I need to step out and clear my head..

~ Your POV ~

I see Eli step out of the room muttering something that I couldn't hear. He must be scared to death.. The money problem is stressing him out I bet. What are we going to do? Eli's got some money but that still not going to be enough, maybe I'll call stepmom? Nah.. Well.. I guess it's worth a shot. I dial her number, after what felt like a billion years she finally picked up.
"What do you want? I'm busy." I immediately could tell that she's been drinking. Why won't she quit?
"Wait! Dad's in the hospital and needs to get surgery! But we don't have enough money, can you lend us some?" I pleaded, praying that she will say yes.
"What? He's in the hospital? Huh! He deserves it, just let him die and you won't have to worry about a thing ever again. I'm hanging up, don't call me again unless it's about his funeral."
"No! Stepmom wai-" Before I could finish, she hung up. Why?! Why does she have to be like this? Does she not care about us at all? My tears just won't stop flowing, what am I going to do?

~ Someone's POV ~

I was just about do my daily visit to check on the sick children at the hospital, when I saw a girl on the ground crying. I stopped at the door and watched for a bit, not knowing if I should go in. Right when I was about to leave, I see a nurse standing beside me.
"Sigh.. Mi Cha's so pitiful. Her father needs an operation but they don't have enough money."
"Um.. Where's her mom?" I asked, full of curiosity.
"Her mother passed away when she was 8 years old. But I heard that her dad remarried to someone.. she went somewhere.. Where was it.... Ah! She went to America a few months ago, I guess she's not back yet? I've met her once, not a nice lady. She was so rude! One time when I was about to go check up on the patients, I saw her slap her daughter. I don't think that woman even cares that her husband's is on the line between life and death." The nurse shakes her head and walks away.
I wanted to help her, I don't know why but I feel like I need to protect her. Without her knowing. I walk up to front desk and asked for some information.

~ Your POV ~

Eli came back a few minutes ago and sat on the other side of the bed, then the doctor walks in.
"The operation will start in 15 minutes. Please be prepared, the probability of this operation being successful is 40%. We will try our utmost best to save Mr.Kim." The doctor was about to leave but I had to ask him. Something didn't seem right.
"Wait, but we haven't paid yet. How can an operation start without payment?"
"Oh don't worry about the money. Someone already paid for you."
"Paid already? But who?" Eli asked.
"I don't know. He specifically asked not to mention his name. I need to go and prepare, we will see you after the operation." He left before we could ask any more questions.
Who paid for us? Why would he pay for us? Do we know him? Why does he not want us to know his name? Before I knew it, the operation was about to start.

--After Operation--

I just woke up from a short nap and I realize that the operation is finally over. My shoulder felt a little heavy so I looked over and saw Eli sleeping on it. The doctor comes out and announces the results. Right when I was about to wake Eli up, I hear the words "I'm Sorry". I turn to the doctor and ask him to repeat what he said.
"I'm very sorry but your father could not make it." Then the doctor walks away.
My tears wouldn't stop coming out. No! No! This can't be happening! You promised dad!
Eli wakes up and I try to hide my tears.
"The operation's done? Where's the doctor? Ya, Mi Cha what were the results? Was it a success?" Eli keeps shaking me but then he realizes that I'm crying. "No, it can't be right sis? He's alive right? He made it didn't he?"
"No.. I'm sorry.."
August 29, 2008. The day another precious person decided to leave my life.
