Jimin’s POV
I yell at the officers. I turn around and walk back over and see her slowly falling apart, trying to wrap her head around the situation. She’s standing next to Jin awkwardly. I walk over and wrap my arms around her tight.
“I’m so sorry. I don’t know what to do.” I hug her with all the love I have, but I feel nothing from her.
“EVERYONE PUT YOUR HANDS UP NOW!” I jump back and do as instructed, she does the same. From the corner of my eye I see Jin’s hands go up too.
“Okay, pat them down.” Some foreign man says in the back.
We all get patted down before they finally let us speak. We all tell our sides of the story, Jin confesses everything. I look over and see the tears running down her face, but she has no expression. They eventually take her and Jin to the hospital to be checked out and tell me to go home.
Xie’s POV
I run out of the library as fast as I can with a another person over my shoulder. Her struggling is nothing against my anger. As soon as I get to my car I go around the back and open my trunk. I lay her down and slam the door back down. Just as I’m about to start the car I see 4 police cars speed down back the way we came. I wait till they’re gone and speed out of the campus. I run as many lights as possible till I’m on the outskirts of downtown, where all the abandoned warehouses are.
I pull into one from an alley and get everything set up. I put a chair in the middle of the room and get out my favorite weapon. I finally walk around to the back of the car and stand there. I knock lightly on the trunk door before opening it.
Ara looks terrified. Her breathing is fast and she has sweat dripping down her face, her eyes wide. Seeing her this way makes me so happy that I can’t help but smile.
“I have been waiting for this for too long Ara.”
I grab her out of the trunk and position her into the chair. The only way she would be able to leave is inching out of here like a worm, on her stomach, tied up.
“Now that I have you here I don’t really know what to do, this became too easy.” I decide to take the gag out.
“Anything you’d like to say?” I turn and ask, walking away from her.
“You plan on getting away with another murder? You’ll have no one to cover it up for you this time!” She cries. I turn on my heel and come to meet her face to face.
“What the hell type of bullshit is that?” I growl
“You are a murderer!” She screams at me, her tears making her makeup run.
“I am not! You sound crazy!” I yell back at her.
“Do you really not remember everything?”
“I don’t know what your talking about!”
“Well then would you like the whole story? Might as well tell you everything since I’m going to die right?” She sniffles. I stay silent, waiting to hear what she has to say.
“Don’t you ever wonder why you can’t remember everything from when you were younger? Why you get headaches when you try?” She has my full interest now.
“The doctor said you were trying to protect yourself, that your mind hid the really painful memories. Your dad was in a mental institution. Your mom was left all alone to raise you and Mie, my dad would help you all too. Of course he would help his younger brothers wife. You have to same sickness as your dad. Auntie saw that you liked to talk to yourself a lot. She even found you cutting open a squirrel one time. That’s when you all moved to the city and you started seeing a therapist. Auntie couldn’t keep up with the payments though. So eventually you stopped seeing her. I remember Auntie saying how much worse you were getting. She said she was afraid of you. She had to hide the knives from you. But you must have found them somehow. You stabbed auntie so many times. You even hid Ju Mie somewhere.”
“You’re lying.” I whisper.
“ One of the neighbor ladies came over and saw you crying over her body, so they called my dad and the police. You ran away from the house. I found you close to the park and the police found Ju Mie somewhere. Dad knew that it had to have been you.”
“Don’t tell lies Ara.” I threatened.
“Your dad was able to leave the mental place once your mom was dead. He seemed okay, at first. You, Mie, and your dad came to stay with us. Everything was getting better. You didn’t act as crazy, your dad was getting a job, everything seemed better. He snapped one day though. He killed my father and then killed himself. He forced me to grow up fast.” She chokes on her sobs. I can hear the sincerity in her voice and deep down I know she’s not lying. I feel the sadness and tears take over.
Ara’s POV
Craziness runs in the family. I cry freely now.
I see Xie crying too. maybe he’ll let me go. There isn’t anything I can do now except for escaping. I work on getting my hands free as quietly as possible. As soon as I have them free I quietly bend over and work on my feet.
Xie’s POV
I try and clear my head, but all I can see is my moms smiling face. I know I did it.
I hear something and look up to see Ara bent over, trying to untie her feet. I feel really angry all of a sudden.
“NO YOU DO NOT LEAVE!” Ara jumps back into her seat and raises her hands up.
She keeps crying no, but it’s too late. My hand reaches for a knife and I cut and bury it into anything that is her. I can hear her piercing screams. I just keep going until there’s nothing but silence left and her body isn’t moving any more. I finally take a few steps back and look at her mutilated body and all the blood surrounding us both. I realize the person I am. I feel disgusted but can’t do anything but cry.
I reach for my pocket and pull out my phone and do my best to dial with shaky fingers. I put the phone to my ear and walk to the car. I sit in the driver’s seat and listen to the rings. I reach for the glove box and she answers.
“Xie! Are you coming back now?” Her voice is so calming and soothing.
“Remember when I said that I have present for you?”
“Yeah!” The excitement in her voice makes me smile through the tears.
“Well, the present is that you’re going to live there permanently. There are nice people there that are going to take you in and be very nice, so you have to listen to them.”
“You’re not coming back?” I try to keep my composure before answering her.
“No, I need to go away, and I won’t be back. It’s nothing bad, okay?”
“O-okay.” Her voice cracks. I can feel my heart break with her. Make sure you always have mom’s necklace okay?”
“Okay.”
“I love you so much Mie, that’s why I’m leaving.”
“I love you too.”
“Goodnight Mie, always have happy dreams.”
“Goodnight, I hope I can see you in my dreams.” I hang up the phone and put the cold metal up to me. The last thing I remember is the sound of the trigger being pulled on my handgun.
