Chapter 40
"Just forget I even said anything.” Jimin gently weaves our fingers together and gives me a small smile.
“You won’t even tell me why you don’t like her? You two don’t even know each other.” I stare him down.
“I do know her, I just didn’t want to say anything.” His question leaves me stunned.
“But you both acted like you didn’t know each other?”
“We were friends and she betrayed me, that’s all I can say right now.” He looks at the ground and kicks a pebble.
I sigh and start walking, half dragging him along till he keeps pace with me. We walk all the way to the apartment. The silence between us is thick enough, but it isn’t terribly uncomfortable. I’m not sure what Jimin is thinking. All I can think about is what past Jimin and Ara might have had.
Just because he says they were friends doesn’t really rule out them being lovers. She’s a lot prettier than I am too. I wonder why they cut off contact though…
Jimin opens the door and walks in, I follow.
“I’m going to take a shower.” I say and walk past Jimin.
“Okay, I’m probably going to be asleep.” He makes a cute pouty/kissy face, making me smile. I walk over and take his squishy cheeks in one hand and give him a quick peck.
“I’m sorry about everything.” he whispers.
“I’m sorry too.” I give him another kiss. He wraps both of his arms around my waist and gives me pecks all over, his face in a gorgeous, gigantic smile.
The rest of the night was calm and quiet. We didn’t bring up Ara anymore. I did my homework and then we crashed out on the couch and watched a movie. Some of the guys even watched it with us.

It seems like it’s going to be a gloomy day today. The clouds have been dark all morning and there’s been off and on rain. Jimin’s gone when I wake up, but I’m used to it.
Before I know it I’m already halfway through my classes. I’m sitting at a little cafe on campus, all alone. Jin usually accompanies me, but today seems to be all sorts of off. I was 5 minutes late to my first class and my second class got an email that it was canceled, but I didn’t get it.
Now Jin has abandoned me too.
I notice the time and start packing up and getting ready for work. I don’t know how to act around Ara after what Jimin told me last night.
I don’t know whether I should be suspicious, angry, or jealous. Or if I should even bring it up?
By the time I get to the library Mrs. Kim is already rushing out of the door.
“Make sure to help the newbie with anything today, do the regular stuff and close properly. I’m going to be a grandma today!” she shouts joyfully as she rushes out of the door.
I’m alone for the next few hours before Ara arrives. I go around and tidy odds and ends, doing really nothing. There’s not much to do on a dreary day like this.

Xie’s POV
I stand by an abandoned building and call Ju Mie, hoping she won’t answer.
“Hello?”
“Hi, are you doing okay?” I ask
“Yeah, these people are really nice. I don’t know how you found such amazing people, but they are being really nice to me. When are you going to come back?” She sounds so lonely.
“Hey, you’re going to school right?” I try to sound playful. I know she’s going.
“Of course I’m going! I even made some new friends. You can meet them when you get back.”
“I don’t know when I’m coming back though.” I speak quietly.
“Well… that’s okay, I’ll be waiting for you. The air here is so nice too! It’s too bad you have be there instead of here!”
She sounds so much happier there. I can be there too, maybe. I need to deal with Ara first.
“I’d like to hear more, but I have to go.” I break through her chatter.
“Okay! Call soon okay?”
“Okay… I love you Ju Mie.” The tears start to make everything blurry.
“I loved you too Xie.”
“Bye Mie.”
“Bye.” I hang up and feel the pressure of everything.
Not only do I need to find mom, but Ara needs to be disposed of. She even killed her own father.
The disgust and hatred I feel for her is the only thing driving me. I walk along the sidewalk and wait for Ara to arrive at the school library

Jin’s POV
We’re all in the back room of the Music Core building. We just finished filming our performance.
This definitely isn’t the best place to tell him, but I have to do it now while I have the courage.
“Jimin, can I talk to you?” I see Hobi and Yoongi look at me.
“Sure, what is it?”
“Not here, follow me.” I lead him out to the back. I don’t go far enough to be seen by fans, but just enough.
“Are you okay? You look a little sick.” Jimin looks at me really concerned.
“I need to tell you something, and it’s really bad. You may even hate me for forever for this.” I speak at the ground.
“You didn’t rip my favorite underwear right?” Jimin says seriously.
“No, but it involves _______.” Jimin gets even more serious and stays silent.
“It also has to do with Ara… and Megan.”
I start to tell Jimin everything. I can see so many emotions in his eyes. There’s disappointment, anger, sadness, and disbelief. I finish and just stand there. Waiting.
The next thing I know I’m on the ground, spitting out blood.
“How dare you call yourself a friend to anyone.” I look up and see Jimin crying.
“Do you know what you’ve done?!” He yells at me, shaking.
“Yes, I realize everything, I’ve realized for a while.” I get up and wipe away the blood on my chin.
“Do you know what she’s planning right now?” He asks. I shake my head.
“You good for nothing.” Jimin turns around and runs back inside.

Your POV
“Looks like you made it on time.” I smile at Ara as she walks in. She smiles back, but doesn’t say anything. For the next hour she says nothing to me and makes very little effort to talk to other people.
“Are you okay?” I ask.
“I’m fine, just not in a good mood.” She doesn’t even look at me.
“Okay then.” I walk towards a bookshelf.
“Are you ready to close?”
“Sure, I’ll go up and downstairs today.” I offer.
“Okay, perfect.” She starts walking around on the main floor as I go up a floor.
I walk around, pushing in stray chairs and picking up pieces of paper. I look out of the window and see fog moving across the ground. I see a campus lamp flicker and go out. I can hear the rooftop rafters making noises from the wind. Everything feels so eerie. I don’t like it. I hurry through my duties and go downstairs to do the same thing.
Coming down here is even worse because it’s dead silent. I hurry through everything down here too, my fear making me edgier than usual.
I get back to the main floor, a little out of breath and find it quiet too.
“Ara?”
