Days Thereafter
Chapter 1
You squint at the board of flight times, cursing Megan for making you pull an all nighter. You loved her a lot but, all nighters were not your thing, you needed sleep like a white girl needs Starbucks, which was another one of your necessities. Your flight departs in 30 minutes. You sigh and turn around looking for the people that deemed themselves your “Going Away Committee”. Megan and her giant poster are the first things you notice, then your family, then a smaller group of friends.
You make your way over to your friends first; they bid you goodbye and a safe trip, they leave for the beginning of their classes. Now you were left with the people that really mattered. Your mom smiles a small sad smile, tears in her eyes and comes for a big embrace.
“You know how much I’m going to miss you don’t you?” she whispers in my ear.
“I’m going to miss you too” I say, hugging her a little harder.
Now time for my over emotional grandma. By the time I look at her, her eyes are so full of tears she has to take off her glasses. She pulls me in fiercer than my mom.
“Stay away from creepy men and call home every day. You better keep your grades up, and no boys to fraternize with, hmmm?”
I could tell she was trying to be stern, but it wasn’t very effective today.
“I promise.”
Now for the last and hardest person to say goodbye to. Megan stands a little away from us, her back facing me. Her fiance stands next to her, rubbing her arm as she hiccups her sobs. He gives me a small sad smile. I walk up behind her and wrap my arms around her, my chin resting on her shoulder.
“Shouldn’t you wish me a safe trip instead of crying?”
“I’m not crying…”
She turns around and hugs me even harder than my grandma, almost pushing me back. She cries into my shoulder, which makes me tear up too. This is the person I’ll miss the most, my sister in my heart.
“It’s time to go sweetie.” My mom mumbles behind us.
I sigh and peel myself away from Megan. I hug Connor and then pick up my luggage.
“Bye guys. I’ll call once I arrive!”
With that, I turn around and start heading to the portal that will take me to San Francisco.

From San Francisco , we then fly to LAX. At LAX I finally aboard the Korean Air flight. This is it. The last flight.
I sit by the window, waiting for departure when I notice someone putting up their bags by mine. He looks down at me and then sits in his seat next to me. I study his face for about 5 seconds before he turns and faces me.
