Hide And Seek

Sunshine

“Well, Joohee, you’re lucky that I happened to pass by.” His narcissist-self finally appeared, but the girl didn’t look amused at all. Instead, she added a few words to his statement, “Not really. I really had to wait for dad.” Shouldn’t the girl be at least thankful that she won’t be freezing? Well she did thank him, but it doesn’t seem like she wants to or needed his help anyway. It was as if she wanted to just stay there and wait.

Was she that crazy? A fever could be worse than anything else. A fever could be lethal. Does she not know that or was she playing blind that nothing could break her down.

“So where is your dad?”
“He’s out on a meeting. He told me he’d come back.”
“Why were you locked out of the house? Don’t you have a spare key or something?”
The girl couldn’t utter any sound at all. With her hands pressing down on her knees, she trembled. She couldn’t explain why. Would her reasons be believable or would he just think she’s delusional.

“I… I… I don’t remember!” Tears ran down her cheeks as her hands ball into fists. She seemed frustrated, but why. Perhaps, she was just too innocent to lie and better enough to tell the kind stranger she had no idea why. That she forgot.

“Please don’t cry! Please stop crying!” Hoseok was in shock. He didn’t know how to make a girl stop crying for he would always be a reason why a girl cries. He’d tease them, like a bully. Then again, they were taking it all too seriously and he never knew how to stop them from crying. Making those girls laugh over a few jokes or making a fool out of himself was no use either. Now, he’s hopeless. He wouldn’t even bother to make her laugh, but it doesn’t mean he’d give up.

He held her by the waist as he let her head rest on his chest. “There, there.” He tried to calm her down as he held her closer to him, disregarding the fact that they just met, but whoever she is, she needed it. She needed someone to comfort her. She was shedding tears in a stranger’s arms. She was probably that in need.

“You’re a wreck aren’t you?”

She didn’t answer. All she did was tug on his sleeve lightly as she continued to sob. He just held her even tighter.

On the other hand, Master Min just arrived from a meeting. He took a step out of his limousine as guards welcomed him with umbrellas in hand. It was still pouring and the guards made sure not a single drop of rain would land on their master.

“Oh look, it’s Ms. Kim!” A maid from the inside of the mansion said to her fellow maid.
“Will she be staying long?”
“I hope so!”

The household’s maids were excited to see their beloved mistress again that they couldn’t wait to open the door and welcome her. The lady the maids were talking about, Ms. Kim, who was around her late forties, was Mr. Min Yoongi's other half. A warm smile amidst the hard pouring rain glistened as she stepped out of the limousine’s door.

“Welcome back, Ms. Kim.”

One guard moved from another guard’s right to their Mistress’ side to escort her out of the vehicle and into the mansion. She was elegant and still youthful-looking despite her age. She smiled at the maids that waited for her at the front door. Her smile seemed to have brightened up the people of the Min household, including the Master Min Yoongi, himself. No one could compare the happiness he’s feeling right now to his regular days with his missing half away.

“Welcome back, Ms. Kim!” The maids greeted her as they welcomed her inside.
“To where did you travel to again, our Mistress?”
“How was your trip?”
“Oh how we’ve missed you here!”

Ms. Kim couldn’t say a word. She was being overwhelmed that she felt so uncomfortable. She paced a few steps back until she collapsed on the floor. Everyone was shocked, except for the master of the household who was furious. He asked them to back off and called for the head maid to assist her to their room.

The rain stopped pouring and so has Joohee’s tears. She has no more to cry left with her eyes all red and puffy. "Ta- Take me back." She requested as she sat up, letting go of her grip on the boy whom she just met earlier. "I will." He assured her as he stood up to see if her clothes were dry.
