Lee Jinki. His artist name was ONEW. He was twenty four years old. He seemed to be quiet and polite –although I still wasn’t convinced of that- and apparently he was a bit fragile. Honestly, I felt like a bitch at that moment. And that didn’t happen often. When I saw his horrified face right after I had kicked him, I got the urge to kick myself too. Wasn’t I supposed to be the one who was the most against this?
The bruises ached so much from the last time they had done it but now they were already at it again. They had been waiting for me in front of the entrance of the school. Five girls. All of them were tall and had been forced to repeat the school year. God, I hated them so much. At that moment, I wished they were all dead. I had never felt so powerless and weak in my entire life.
Cassandra, the one with the most authority barked to the other four of them that they had to drag me away from the eyes of the supervisors. Behind the school, in front of some trash bins, they began to hit me, while screaming insults. They also called me by my full name while laughing about it. I had always liked my name but as they kept repeating the insults, I started to really hate it. I was so scared that I would have puked if I hadn’t been too terrified to go to school that morning. I hadn’t been able to eat anything.
Why was it always me who had to take the blow? Why were there people in this world that were as terrible as them?
I shook my head, as if it would make the memories go away. ONEW had fainted, not because of the kick but because of the shock. Minho, Jonghyun and Jay dragged him to one of the beds and Key and Taemin were staring angrily at me. Anisha meanwhile, was trying to calm the both of them down. I was just standing there like some lunatic, not seemingly affected by anything that had happened. Or so I thought because Kate grabbed me and led me out of the room, while slamming the door behind us. She did something I didn’t expect she would do. I thought she was going to scold me for being a bitch or for being thoughtless but instead, she gave me a big hug.
‘Okay, what did I do to deserve that one?’ Kate sighed.
‘You don’t deserve it, idiot.’ She let go of me and I raised an eyebrow.
‘Then why?’ Kate shrugged.
‘It was very mean to do that but honestly, you looked so terrified when he grabbed you, not to mention the shocked face you made when he fainted. I didn’t really know what else to do.’
‘Except scolding me, you mean.’ Kate laughed but her face immediately turned serious afterwards.
‘Nora, you need to chill out now. I know that when someone unknown calls you by your full name, or grabs you, you get reminded of the time when you were… well bullied would be an understatement. But anyway, things have changed now! You’re strong enough to defend yourself and right now, no one intends to use violence on you for no reason. Though, if they do now, it is your own fault.’
‘You’re right, I’m sorry.’
‘Yeah, I noticed when your face went all pale and don’t apologize to me, apologize to that poor ONEW guy. He’s a very sweet person, you know. He doesn’t deserve anything like this. However, if you plan to kick Taemin if he ever breaks Anisha’s heart you have my permission.’
‘I really don’t trust that Taemin. But how can you be so sure that ONEW is trustworthy? He is an idol, his personality is his job. He could be a cold blooded jerk.’ Now Kate raised an eyebrow.
‘You can see that Taemin is a creeper from a mile away, though Anisha is just an oblivious airhead. Jinki is a different story though. He seems much more real. And if you have your doubts about that, just talk to him and find out. It’s almost as if you really want him to have a genuine personality.’ I frowned.
‘What’s so wrong with a genuine personality?’ Kate sighed.
‘I don’t mean it that way. It’s like you really want him to have a genuine personality. I mean, from what I’ve seen, you have almost ignored the other SHINee members except for him, and Taemin. What is it? You got a crush on him?’ I blushed bright red. Big mistake. Kate suddenly looked very pleased with herself.
‘So you actually do like Korean idols!’ I had been bullying Kate and Anisha before with the fact that I thought that all the members of Korean boy bands looked gay and now the time had arrived that I had to pay for it.
‘No! No, I never said that. I don’t like K-pop boys and I especially don’t like ONEW.’ I tried to be very frank with her, so that it would get through her thick skull but it only seemed to make her more determined.
‘That blush said enough and you would fit together too. ONEW likes girls with their ‘own character’ although you have to behave polite in the future, that would be a problem but I think your pretty voice and hands will make up for it, and the fact that you can massage well.’ I slowly walked towards the door of the bedroom.
‘And you call me a lunatic? I do not like that guy and he doesn’t like me either! We don’t even know each other! I’m just going to see if he’s alright and apologize to him, okay?
‘Whatever you say Nora, whatever you say.’

Oh, that Nora. She was a very good friend of mine but sometimes she was unbelievable. She was probably hated half of South-Korea’s female population by now.
I helped Minho and Jonghyun with dragging ONEW away. He seemed like the most down to earth guy of the five and the kindest one. I felt sorry for him. I could hear KEY’s complaints and Taemin’s angry murmurs. KEY seemed alright, if you ignored the fact that he was a diva. Even though I didn’t like people who nagged a lot, he had a good reason for it now. If someone would kick Kate, Nora or Anisha in the face I would be pissed off too.
Jonghyun went downstairs to get some ice for ONEW’s bruise. Minho looked me in the eyes. They stood dark and strangely scary. It startled me even more because he hadn’t really expressed himself. His face had been blank and he hadn’t said much, until now. In the past, I would have been intimidated by a stare like that but I had learned that I could be pretty convincing myself. To show that, I raised an eyebrow and folded my arms.
‘Honestly, I know that you girls didn’t ask for to be in this situation but you should at least show some sort of respect. A lot of women would have loved to change places with you, you know.’ Oh, so now he was going to act all offended, like it was somehow my fault for making this all happen. Pfft, just because I was the only one of us four present right now.
‘Well, I guess it is only the right thing to apologise at a time like this, I’d like to remark that as much as I like Nora, I am not going to take the blame for her. I didn’t kick ONEW in the face and it’s not fair to judge us four by something Nora did. We do have respect, Nora does too. It is just a very overwhelming thing to suddenly discover you’re in a show with idols, so excuse us for not being able to deal with it. In addition, I’d like to inform you of the fact that Nora has gone through a lot. By a lot I mean very aggressive bullying which she still needs to recover from. This trip was actually organised for that purpose. I’m not saying that the thing she did is all right but I’m telling you this so that you won’t treat her to rough in the future. And so that you understand that she isn’t a completely ignorant person.’ I gasped. I had been talking too fast and by the time I had finished my speech I had felt angrier and angrier. Minho blinked for a second.
‘Are you alright? Those were a lot of words spoken in a short amount of time.’ Somehow I found that funny as hell, so I began to giggle like an idiot. Minho raised an eyebrow.
‘You think I’m funny?’ I nodded. Minho smiled.
‘I understand, though. I’m still angry but I’m not angry at any of you anymore. I just think it sucks for ONEW. He is a fragile guy.’ He laughed.
‘Oh, is he? I don’t know any of you guys so well yet. I have just succeeded in remembering all of your names. Holland isn’t really into k-pop right now.’ Minho nodded understandingly.
‘So that’s were all of you are from? I thought you guys were American or something, especially Kate-ah.’ I giggled, again.
‘Why is Kate the most American? And what’s ‘ah’?’
‘Well, she just acts so confident. And Kate-ah and you have English names. Oh, ah is something we add to the name of a younger person we are close with, though we are obviously not that close.’ He began to move his hands back and forth at that sudden conclusion.
‘It is also something we do to make tv-shows more enjoyable for viewers.’ That reminded me.
‘About tv-shows, could you tell me the details about the show?’ Minho nodded.
‘Sure. You girls live with us in this house for one month. You have already heard about the sleep thing. What you also should know is that we will do a lot of k-pop related activities together. There will be a singing contest and a dancing contest. Both of them will actually take place on stage, too. There aren’t any scripted scenes, either. That’s something you also should know. We are supposed to take turns on housekeeping. In the first week, you girls will be in charge of that. It is the goal of the series to, ehm..’ I gestured that he had to continue speaking. He awkwardly averted his eyes.
‘SM wants at least one member of SHINee to date one of you girls, at least for a while. It is also the goal of the program to have us choose who of you girls we’d rather have as a girlfriend.’ I rolled my eyes. This wasn’t very surprising. I did know something about the k-pop industry and that was the fact that fanservice was most of the time more important than the music itself.
‘And the fans will actually like that?’ Minho shrugged.
‘Except for the crazy obsessed ones, they pretty much will.’ I shivered.
‘Well, now I know why Jonghyun doesn’t have to ‘sleep’ with anyone. I don’t want to offend you guys but I’m not really looking forward to all of this. You are all very handsome, sure but I hardly know any of you.’ Minho shrugged yet again.
‘I don’t really care. We get shipped with girls all the time. By the way, I don’t think you have realised it but we are forced to ‘sleep’ together.’ Shit! I had totally forgotten about that. It had just been one big chaos of calling ‘dibs’. I knew Taemin and Anisha, KEY and Kate and ONEW and Nora were paired together but I had totally forgotten about myself.
‘Oh, really. I haven’t really thought about it. I was too concerned with Nora and ONEW.’
‘Well, you don’t have to be, I can take care of myself, you know.’ Nora had finally returned from her conversation with Kate and was already bitching again. Minho narrowed his eyes for a moment but decided to let the impoliteness go. Jonghyun had also returned form downstairs and was now walking towards ONEW with the ice.
‘Let me do that.’ Nora said. Jonghyun raised an eyebrow. ‘Please.’ She said. Oh wow, she said please. That meant she was serious.
‘That’s all right, really. And you don’t have to look so pale. That guy’s fragile but he’s going to be okay.’ Jonghyun patted her head and Nora seemed confused for a moment. Interesting.
‘You’d better worry about your little curly friend, Anisha-ah, right? I believe Taemin has taken her with him. Nora immediately stood up.

Hee, hee, please bear with me for not updating frequently. I'm kinda busy now, even though I don't have to go to school. This is the first time I am actually writing about real people so I would reaaally appreciate some feedback. I hope you guys enjoy the story, because I certainly enjoy writing it.
