It was hard telling my mum that my friend turned into a crazy obsesser, especially before school. It just made me remember everything. How was I ever going to trust anyone again? If my best friend was the kidnapper, than what could my other ‘friends’ be? I thought I new my best friend. She was so giddy, happy and caring. How did she turn out to be an obsessive kidnapper? I get it. She was diagnosed with OCD, but she could’ve told me. She didn’t have to go to such extreme lengths to try and get Hyuk. My heart ached painfully and my mind went numb. It was all too painful to think about.

The days passed in a blur. I didn’t tell any of the other girls about Sally. How would they react? I guess they did have a right to know, but… I couldn’t think of a reason why I shouldn’t tell them, but I felt like I shouldn’t tell them.

Although Leo said that I should tell him if I needed him, I didn’t want to be a burden to him. VIXX had their world tour coming up soon so I didn’t want him to waste his time on some sad petty girl. If Leo did go on the world tour, what would I do? He was such a big part of my life now and he saved me so many times. How would I cope without him?

I figured I needed a distraction. I needed to think of something other than Sally and Leo. I gently knocked on the door to Cindy’s room. “Cee. Are you in there?” I asked. She made a noise indicating that she was inside. I turned the knob and walked in. She was sitting on her bed, looking intensely at the screen of her laptop. “Did I say you could come in?” she asked without taking her eyes off the screen. I ignored her and sat on the edge of her bed. Her room was so much neater and tidier than mine. I hope she doesn’t have OCD as well… My stomach clenched. No. What am I thinking? Don’t be stupid Melinda. “So what do you want?” Cindy asked me, shutting the lip to her laptop. “I can’t concentrate on my K-drama when you’re in here.” I knew that I wanted to talk to her, but I didn’t what to talk about.
“How’s…Nathan?” I asked.
She shot a look at me. “Why do you want to know?”
“I just want to talk with my sister about what all sisters talk about.”
“So how’s Leo?”
“I asked you first.” I said rolling my eyes.
“He’s good.”
“I want to know how things between you guys are going. Geez.”
“It’s embarrassing!!!” Cindy wailed. She kicked her legs in the air and landed backwards on her bed. I turned around and landed next to her, tucking my elbows under me to support me. I looked at her.
“Come on! We’re sisters!”
“I’ll only tell you if you promise to tell me about you and Leo.” She said.
“Sure, sure, whatever.”
“Nathan and I…have started dating and– “
“YOU GUYS ARE ALREADY DATING?!” I shouted out of shock.
Cindy covered her face with her hands. “Noooooooo!” she wailed. “Don’t say it so loud! Mum might hear and it’s embarrassing.”
“Sorry. Sorry.” I said quietly. “Continue.”
“Anyways, even though we’re dating, we don’t spend much time with each other because he’s trying to study his own subjects…oh, and we’re dating in secret…”
“Secret? What’s the point of dating if it’s in secret?” I asked, screwing up my face.
“Listen, if you keep interrupting I’ll kick you out of my room.” Cindy chided.
“Sorry. Sorry. Continue.”
“In answer to your question, it’d be better if no one knew so people wouldn’t question us. In school, we’re so different because of his alias. Outside school however, we’re so alike. He’s a whole different person. He just doesn’t want to attract attention at school.”
We talked for an hour or so about her relationship with Nathan. Mum called us out for dinner so we had to eat. After dinner, Cindy dragged me back into her room. “Now spill about you and Leo.” She said excitedly. I looked at my bare wrist. “Oh would you look at the time! It’s time for me to do my homework. It’s so important that we just have to postpone out little talk. Nice talking to you sis. Always a pleasure.” I slip out the door and walk to my room. “Melinda you conman!” I heard Cindy shout. I smiled and laughed. It’s been a while since I’ve smiled.
