Stars

We arrived at my house at 2:42 am, and I was pretty sleepy. “How do you guys manage to stay up this late after an exhausting concert?” I asked VIXX. “Well, not all of us can hold out.” Laughed N as he pointed to Ravi, Ken and Hongbin who were sleeping against each other in the back of the bus. I laughed and thanked the VIXX members who were still awake. As I walked out of the bus I noticed that Hyuk was following me. “Um, you don’t have to walk me out…its OK…taking me home was enough.” “No, that’s not true. I owe you my life Melinda. That’s a lot. A bus ride home isn’t going to pay my debt.” His smile seemed to be glowing.

All the lights in my house were off, that’s obvious because its almost 3:00 in the morning! I rummaged through my bag, looking for the house keys. There was no jingle to inform me that I had the keys. “The keys…” I whispered. I backtracked to before the concert. I had my myki and the house keys in my hand…mum drove me to the venue…. Sally called me to ask if I was there…. “Oh man.” I breathed. And I left the damn keys in the car along with the myki. “Far out.” I pinched the bridge of my nose to try and keep myself awake. I looked at Hyuk who was inspecting the roses in my front yard. “They’re beautiful.” He gasped. The flowers had bloomed beautifully; the shade of red was like the shade of blood and the petals grew to be the size of my hand. I snapped back to reality and saw that Hyuk had snapped off a rose and put the stem in the chest pocket of his suit. The big rose stood out and the blood red beamed at your eyes, calling you to acknowledge it. “How do I look?” he joked. “I like it.” I smiled. I drifted off in his warm eyes. “No keys…..” The words escaped my throat. “Sorry?” “Oh, nothing, I just don’t have the house keys.” I mumbled. He scratched the back of his neck, “Did you want to stay over at the hotel with us?” he slowly asked. My knees almost buckled and my head spun. I was so happy that I could die right now…of course that was a figure of speech. I opened my mouth. Yes, yes, yes, I wanted to say. “Sorry, I can’t. I don’t want to be a burden.” Damn you Melinda! You ruined your own chance to stay overnight with VIXX! Just great, you win the biggest idiot of the year award! I pulled my hair over to one side, “My mum would be worried to see I’m not home when she wakes up.” Suddenly a light turns on in my house, a dim light glowing from behind the closed blinds of Cindy’s room at the side of the house. “Cindy is awake!” I gasped, happy that she is up. I rushed over to the fence at the side of our house. The fence is wedges between our house and the neighbor’s fence, if I manage to open it, I could knock on Cindy’s window and get her to open the front door. I try to slide my fingers through the gaps in the wooden fence so I can unlock the door, but my middle knuckle was too big to slide through. I silently cursed and tried to think of another say to get my sister’s attention. I searched her up in my contacts list on my phone and tried to call her. “The person you are trying to call is un-“ I hung up. Dammit Cindy. Turn on your phone. I can’t sleep outside, I already declined Hyuk’s offer to go to the hotel…frustrated, I looked up at the stars and filled my lungs with nice cool air to relieve myself. I was so caught up that I didn’t realize the weather had gone cooler. “Um, “I awkwardly start. “Could you give me a boost over the fence?” Hyuk looked at me with one eyebrow raised. “So I can get over and out of your hair.” I laugh awkwardly. I’ve always imagined a time where I would spend with my idol, it was romantic, cool and amazing, this was not what I was expecting. “Sure.” He says without hesitation. As we walked to the fence we hear a voice, “Hyuk! What is taking so long? The bus driver is falling asleep!” shouted N. “Just wait hyung!” Hyuk shouted back. His fingers entwined and created a boost, I stepped on it, he hauled me up and I jumped over the fence. “Thank you.” I whisper to Hyuk. “No thank you.” I could feel his smile through the fence. I knocked on Cindy’s window, after a while she finally opened her blinds. “Cindy!” I say, with a surprised look on her face she says “What are you doing Melinda?” “Open the front door for me! But be quiet! Don’t let mum hear you.” She nods and disappears. I unlock the fence and walk out to the front door, just in time to see the VIXX bus leave and Hyuk waving from the window. I smile and wave back. The bus gets smaller and smaller and eventually disappears in the night, then the front door opened. “What are you doing Melinda?” whispered Cindy.
