Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between

Hide with me

*minjis pov*
"Minji-ah, you promised you would spend time with me today."
The leaves on the trees around us were swaying in the wind. It made the atmosphere around us more natural and peaceful somehow. Myungsoo was following behind me, taking slow and steady steps with his hands in his pocket. I clicked my tongue and tapped my chin, pretending I was actually deciding if I should go.
"I can't believe you still do that.", he said breaking the silence.
"Hm?"
"That clicking sound you do with your tongue." I abruptly stopped, causing him to almost walk into me.
"Yah!"
"You noticed that?"
"How could I not. You do it so much. Oh, and you colored your hair didn't you?"
"You could see the color? Chincha? Waaaa, no one noticed it! You're senses are really awesome.", I praised, holding up my thumb.
"Of course. Why do you think im so popular?", he continued, with a small grin.
"Aish, how conceited."
"Wae? Is it bad. Someone with my looks should be this way." He hopped in front of my and wagged his eyebrows. I bursted into laughter.
"Why are we even friends." I laughed and poked his forehead. He turned around, now walking in front of me instead of behind.
"Because we have fun together. It was a blessing that we met, don't you think?" He asked, holding the straps of his backpack as he gradually walked. I moved to his side, matching his pace. We reached the end of the pathway, meeting where the grass began, and the entrance way of the park. A breeze went by, and i stopped walking, catching myungsoo off gaurd. He walked a few feet ahead, before realizing i stopped and turned around.
"Why are you stopping?" He walked to my side. I extended out my arms, and closed my eyes as the breeze blew by.
"The weather is so nice today." I inhaled in and dropped arms. The clouds blocked the sun, but not enough to block its shine. There was a light breeze. The air was cool and the sun was warm against my skin. A good warm.
"You always pay attention to the weather." He said and walked ahead. I ran up to catch up to him.
"Wae? The weather determines how my day will go." We continued walking without talking, enjoying our surroundings. Its been a really long time since we came here. As we approached the recreation center, we could hear loud noises. Not much people come by anymore, so it was strange. We entered and saw a group of boys. I should've seen this coming. Infinite. They all greeted us and even though we rolled our eyes, we couldn't help but smile.
"Why'd you guys come here?", Myungsoo asked, pulling out a chair. They all just shrugged and said they just came across here. We all took a seat and sat in silence. I jumped up and held up my finger.
"Let's do something!"
"Aii, like what?" I could here the laziness in their voice.
"The weather is so nice today, guys! Come on! Pali!", I pulled each of them up.
"Oh, hide n' seek!", Sungyeol eagerly suggested.
"Aiii, that's a children game." The boys waved him off.
"Wae? We're not that old. Lets play! ", I argued, linking arms with sungyeol.
"Chincha?"
"Ye"
In the end, it was decided we were going to play.
"Ahjussi, since its only us here, can you unlock the upstairs room and the room next to this one?", I asked. He's been working here since i started coming here. He agreed, probably because hes known me so long.
"You kids be careful, and don't break anything.", He warned as he unlocked the doors.
"We won't, kamsamnida, ahjussi. Youre really the best.", I bowed and he chuckled in response.

To decide who would be searching for everyone hiding, we played kai-bai-bo. In the end, sungyeol was chosen. We were given 50 seconds to hide. I ran into a closet, and hid in a hidden opening.
"Im coming!", I heard sungyeol scream. I stayed where I was for a couple minutes, and got impatient. Its really no fun if you don't take risks. I stepped out of the hidden opening and put my ear agains the closet door, trying to listen for footsteps or movement-- silence. I slowly opened the door and gradually stepped out, making as less noise as possible so I wouldn't be heard and So i could hear if someone was coming. I was clear. I slowly walked to the door leading to the stairs going down. I finally reached the stairs, quickly but quietly running down. I had now reached the first floor, standing in plain sight. I looked around for a while, but for a little to long. I soon could hear footsteps and screeching of shoes rubbing agains the floor approaching me, muffled by some barrier. I couldn't decipher wether it was coming from the room next to this one, or the stair way. I was frozen in my place-- panicking. My right foot, moving in all directions as i tried to decide which direction to go. The footsteps had gotten awfully close, when a hand reached out and pulled me behind the folded ping pong table set against the wall. I should've felt scared, but the pressure I felt, trying to decide where to go was much worse. The door that separated the two rooms next to each other opened. I held my breath since I was breathing quite heavily. Sungyeol looked around briefly and walked right infront of the ping pong table. I tensed and the hand that pulled me in gripped my shoulder. I closed my eyes, and clenched my hands into fists, trying to relieve myself. Finally, sungyeol ran upstairs. This happened in a matter of minutes, but it felt so intense and long. I relaxed and unclenched my fist and inhaled. The hand on my shoulder dropped. Thats when i realized that I still didnt know who pulled me in. I looked to my left and found Hoya, looking at me. He was clearly as scared as I was. We both chuckled quietly, probably thinking the same thing.
"This game is so intense.", I whispered over. "Thanks for saving me by the way."
"Dont worry about it.", he nudged me. "I swear, this is more intense than it was in elementary." He clenched his chest and I chuckled. Just then, I knew where myungsoo was hiding. As kids, we hid there a lot during this game when we didn't really feel like playing.
"Follow me." I signaled to Hoya and began walking to the door that led outside. Once outside, I ran around the back, revealing another stairway that led up to the top floor. I ran up the stairs, and stopped. Hoya followed behind the whole time. Now on the balcony on the top floor, I looked across. Doors separating the inside from the balcony sat in between where i was standing and where I wanted to go. Before running across the balcony, I peeked inside, making sure sungyeol wasn't there to see us run across. When i saw the coast was clear, we ran across to the other side. Finally across, I looked up and found the hidden latch the revealed a ladder. It led up to the roof. No one ever found Myungsoo and Me there. It was the ultimate hiding spot. I pulled down the latch and climbed up; Hoya following right behind. When I reached the top, I found myungsoo. He let out a sigh of relief, realizing it was only me.
"Aish, you scared me." He scowled. Hoya had climbed up now, and myungsoo's eyesight abruptly turned towards me. "Yah, why'd you bring him? This was suppose to me our spot! Now he knows and we can't hide here! This is betrayal!" He whined and crossed his arms.
"He helped me, okay! I was five seconds away from being caught I had to do something for him!", I responded, closing the latch. Up on the roof, no one can really hear us, so we can talk at a regular volume.
"Why didn't you guys stay where you were!"
"We were hiding behind the ping pong table! Theres no way we'd be able to hide there the whole time!"
"I promise I wont tell the other members.", Hoya responded before Myungsoo could continue the argument. He eyed Hoya for a moment and finally gave in. For another 15 minutes, we stayed on the rooftop, watching people on the basketball courts and kids flying kites. Myungsoo got a text stating every other member was found, and since no one could find us, they gave up. Before climbing down, we made sure no one was on the balcony. After, we jumped down and quickly made our way downstairs, covering our tracks. When we finally arrived, all the members were already huddled. We discovered that Sunggyu was the first one found, seeing the way he was sitting against the chair with his arms crossed and cheeks puffed out.
"Where were you guys? We looked everywhere." Woohyun asked.
"Its a secret.", I responded.
"Yaaah, how come Hoya was hiding with you guys? I wanted to hide with you guys." Dong woo complained.
"It just ended up that way."
The sun was slowly going down, but none of us prepared to leave. We didnt have school the next day anyway. We sat on the playground since no kids were playing there and we wanted to sit in the sun. We all laid somewhere on top of the playground, looking at the sky. Myungsoo was laying next to me on the bridge. We all stayed like that until it got dark, and the stars came out. We admired the stars, and a shooting star appeared. Only me and myungsoo had spotted it. Myungsoo got excited, and closed his eyes quickly and held his hands together to make a wish. I turned to look at him. He looked like a little kid again. I chuckled and shook my head and turned back to look at the stars. When he opened his eyes, he looked at me and asked,
"What did you wish for?"
"Nothing."
"Wae? Shooting stars are rare!"
"I have nothing to wish for. Besides, the both of us can't wish on the same star, and id seen a couple in the past six years. Its okay for you to have it.", i excused, remembering the late nights I used to spend each summer waiting outside and staring at the stars waiting for it. It was always the same wish every time. Funny how it never came true until years after I stopped wishing. He accepted my response and looked back at the stars.
"I wished for success and a great future. For you and for me.", Myungsoo told me.
"I didnt ask.", i laughed. "It might not come true now."
"I know you didnt. But i know you were wondering. It will come true, I just know it."
"Yah, you have to wish for your members success too!"
"Thier success and mine are the same. We progress as a team.. As a family."
"Waaah, how thoughtful of you, Myungsoo Oppa.", I teased, scrunching my nose, pouting my lips and narrowing my eyes. It was nice to see the sentimental side of Myungsoo. We laughed and continued to look at the stars in silence.
We decided to go home, infinite walking me to my house to make sure I returned safely. I argued at first, but they wouldnt budge and I finally agreed. When I reached the front door, we said our goodbyes and they began walking home. Before they left, we decided we'd do something the next day. I turned away from them, taking out my keys to unlock the door, when Hoya ran back up to me.
"I forgot to ask you on the rooftop earlier, but, can we exchange numbers? I mean, if we're going to be close friends we need eachothers number. Plus, infinites gonna be around you a lot now." He continued to babble on, trying to persuade me when I had already agreed when he explained his first reason. I grabbed his phone, stopping him in mid-sentence. I typed in my number and handed it back to him.
"Done."
"Thanks. Ill contact you later so you get my number."
I nodded in repsonse. He waved goodbye, and turned away to run. I turned back to my door and unlocked it. I swung open the door, and stepped in when my phone rang. I checked to see who it was, already anticipating it. It was a number not saved to my contacts. I opened up the message, and found that I was right.
Its hoya "Oppa"
