The Fashionista Challenge

Shopping trip I

GD's P.O.V
Zzz.

I ignored the sound as I stared at my work. Something seems to be missing? Just what is that something?...

Zzz.

Frowning, I rubbed the back of my neck as I twirled my pencil, my brain full of possible ideas. My eyes lit up as I suddenly thought of it. Maybe if I were just to add something to this...

Zzz.

"Add something to this... Something to this... Something to this..." I mumbled, trying hard to stay focused. But the inspiration was gone, just like that. "Gah!" I yelled, slamming the pencil hard on the table and turning to my phone which was vibrating violently.

I slid my finger across the screen to answer the incoming call. I was so pissed I didn't even bother to check who the caller was.

"Yes? You'd better have a good reason for calling me, because of you I just lost my inspiration!" I growled impatiently, standing up curtly from my chair as I walked to the snacks bar.

"Uhm... Hello?" The female on the other line sounded taken aback and frightened. "I'm sorry for calling... Is this a bad time?"

There was a pause as I brought the phone in front of my face to see who the caller was.

Gong Minzy.

I sighed as I positioned the phone in between my right shoulder and right ear as I grabbed a pack of chips and tried opening it. "Hello. This isn't exactly a good time either. What is it?" I asked, as I popped a couple of chips into my mouth.

"I was just wondering if you are free to go out together tomorrow. You know... For the article. It's due in four days' time." Minzy reminded me. Somehow her voice still sounded scared. Well, my anger reaches its maximum when people disturb me, especially when I'm working on something.

"Yeah. I'm free tomorrow. Where and what time?" I shrugged, checking my personal planner on the desk and confirming that I had nothing on the next day.

I glanced at my watch as I grunted in irritation. This jam is going to make me late! That girl will surely, without a fail, give me a lashing out on punctuality. After what seemed like eternity, the cars on the road finally moved and I stepped on the acceleration pedal, going as fast as I could.

By the time I reached the destination, I was already fifteen minutes late. I quickly parked my car at the roadside and walked towards the fuming girl. Though I didn't exactly feel like rushing, but it isn't very polite for a guy to make a girl wait, either.

I cringed as the both of us had eye contact. She was dressed in a rainbow coloured unicorn top, with millions and millions of freaking unicorns smiling in the background, her bottoms were polka dotted, in shades of the seven colours of nature's wonders. Her shoes- wait no, are those even shoes?- her slippers. She had her usual flip flops on, and resting on her shoulder was an old-looking yellow tote bag which I was pretty sure white was the original colour. She folded her arms as soon as she saw me and was about to open her mouth when I raised my hand in front of her face.

"You're late. Ten minutes late, Kwon Jiyong. And it's not very nice to keep a girl waiting." She nagged, ignoring my hand. "Look, it wasn't completely my fault! I was caught in a traffic jam," I explained as patiently as I could, tucking my car keys safely into my bag. I was in the wrong, afterall. Arguing would only waste time.

"I'm sorry." I apologized sincerely. The frown on her face started disappearing slowly and it's place was a tiny smile which she tried to hide with a stern look on her face.

"So what are we waiting for? Let's go in now!" She blinked quickly, before hurriedly entering the shop. Was that a tiny blush I caught? I chuckled to myself. Just because I apologized, her attitude changed. Hmm. Maybe I should do that more often, haha.

I entered the shop after her.

"Good afternoon Miss, welcome!" The girl at the door greeted, before seeing me. "Oh! It's you, Mr Kwon!" I nodded briefly as she smiled, "Did you come with this lady over here?" she gestured over the the girl in the rainbow top, who was busy gaping around at the shop. She only looked over when I called her.

"Yes. We are here on a new project and I would like to pick out the fabrics." I explained.

The girl nodded as she replied, "This way, please."

Minsy grabbed my arm. "Mr Kwon? You mean you frequent this place?" She whispered, her eyes widening in surprise. I raised my eyebrows as I spreaded my arms out. "Is there a problem?"

The interior is indeed beautiful, I have to admit. Hence her being surprised, isn't much of a surprise to me. This may probably even be her first time in such a high-end boutique.

The girl ushered us to the fabrics room where Minzy only gaped more. I shook my head, smiling to myself, amused. Though I have to admit, never have I seen a girl who gets amazed simply by seeing so many types of fabrics at a place. It is simply amusing.

"May I know what type of fabric are you looking for, Mr Kwon?" The girl asked patiently.

"I haven't exactly gotten the design ready, but I'd like something that would suit this lady's skin tone." I gestured to Minzy, who was busy running her fingers down the displays of soft silk, seemingly almost in a trance.

"I think this fabric and colour would suit her," the girl led me to another aisle, where she pointed to a soft and smooth-looking fabric in pure white. "This. White will suit her and complement her fair skin tone. Plus, I think what she needs is simpler shades of colours." She added. I chuckled as I agreed, "She certainly likes to wear rainbows all over her."

"Alright, I'll take this, then. The usual dimensions. Thank you." The girl bowed and then led us to the counter. I walked over to Minzy and nudged her. "Time to go already, rainbow unicorn." She snapped out of her trance and stared at me. "We're done? So fast?" She looked dazed as she looked around. "Where's the girl?"

I sighed as I repeated myself, "Let's go."

She hurriedly caught up with me. "Anyway, you're already done with the design? I thought you said I caused you to lose your inspiration last night." She looked guilty as she blushed. "I'm sorry about that."

"Nah. That wasn't anything much." I shook my head as I recalled what had happened last night after the call ended.

She eventually ended the conversation and before locking my phone, I caught a glimpse of her picture while saving her name under WhatsApp. She was wearing a pullover with rainbow animals all over it, and the pullover was so oversized it looked like a mini dress.

A mini lightbulb lit up in my mind instantly. Excitedly, I snapped my fingers as I finally realised what was the missing element.

Eventually, I was able to finish my designs for Gong Minzy that night. Unexpectedly, Gong Minzy the fashion disaster was the one who actually gave me the inspiration for a fashion outfit.

A voice interrupted my thoughts, reeling me back into reality. "Yah, didn't you say let's go? Why are you still stoning there like a statue?" She looked up at me at the bottom of the stairs, waving her hand curiously.

I didn't reply as I jogged down the stairs.

The girl handed me a bag of fabric I wanted at the counter. "That would be a total of 50,000 won, please." She informed me.

I was about to whip out my wallet to pay her when all of a sudden, Minzy grabbed my arm and looked at me in the eye. She faked a smile at the girl before quickly pulling me aside.

"50,000 won for that amount of cloth? Are you serious?" She whispered agitatedly to me. Sighing, I explained that it was a high end boutique and this was what she should expect. Shaking her head in disapproval, she stomped to the counter and to my horror, she started bargaining!

"30,000 won! We will only pay 30,000 won! Or else we will not be getting the fabric!" She threatened the girl.

Oh my gosh. What is this girl trying to do?! I'm going to lose face!

"Mr Kwon..." The girl looked at me pleadingly, not knowing how to react.

Minzy shot me an angry glare as she muttered. "It's either we pay her only 30,000 won or we can always go to another store. All fabrics are the same, anyway." She insisted stubbornly. I felt like hiding in a hole so badly; ever since I started supporting this boutique, never have I been so embarrassed here before. Never have I. What is this girl trying to do? She is unbelievable.
