The Fashionista Challenge

Angsty meeting

GD's P.O.V.

I was walking towards the rooftop garden to meet the girl called Minzy right after my class, when I passed by the girls' toilet. I made my way past the bathroom swiftly but there seemed to be a voice calling out for help. What was that? I froze, looked around me.

The empty corridor stared right back at me.

My heart skipped a beat. Funny how it was after school but no one was there at that very time. Feeling cold all of a sudden, I rubbed my arms and decided to simply ignore the cries and just get to the rooftop garden as soon as possible.

As I quickened my pace, I heard the cries once again.

"Is anybody out there? Please help me!"

I stopped again. She sounded human. Maybe she really needs help. Hesitating, I stopped at the door of the bathroom and replied awkwardly, "Hello, what help do you need?", while scratching my head, wondering how to phrase my replies.

"You're a guy..?" I could hear her answer, laced with awkwardness.

I shifted my weight from one foot to another in discomfort and replied. "Yeah. I wonder why there isn't anybody right here at the moment, but I'm the only one who can help you now, I guess." All the time I kept my eyes on the corridor. Anybody passing by at that very moment would wonder why a guy was poking his head into the girls' bathroom. Wouldn't do good for my reputation, I figured.

There was a moment of silence as the girl processed my words. I glanced at my watch nervously. The girl then called out uncertainly.

"Uhm, this is awkward, but I have my period right now... I stained my skirt and I can't go out like this. This is embarrassing, but can you get me a pad?"

I blushed instantly, and was glad how the girl could not see me. This time, I scratched my neck, unsure of how to craft my reply. The minute hand on my watch ticked slowly towards the number 11. I should have enough time... right? The mart was just round the corner of the corridor.

"Alright. Give me a moment. I'll get them for you." Eventually I made up my mind and hurried towards the mart.
After sneakily entering the girls' bathroom like a ninja, I lent her my jacket as well. At least she had something to cover her skirt, now. She couldn't stop thanking me, and was about to get out of the bathroom stall when I hurriedly told her I had to go. I knew it would be awkward for the both of us if we were to see each other under such circumstances.

I ended up being late for 10 minutes, afterall. I ran as fast as I could, up to the rooftop garden. Shit. The girl called Minzy is going to get my head off right now. They say, never make a girl wait. I made her wait for a good 10 mins. Good job, Jiyong. I patted myself mentally.

Slightly out of breath, I scanned the rooftop for the sight of a girl alone. My gaze landed on a short-haired girl wearing large red geek specs. That should be her, I thought to myself as I hurried towards her.

"You're early." She said when I approached her. I rolled my eyes and took the seat opposite of her. "I had last minute matters to settle." I replied curtly, not wanting to waste anymore time. It would be awkward and she would probably judge me when she hears the reason I was caught up, anyway.

She then started droning on and on about her aims and the plans she had made so far. As I was listening, I took the opportunity to observe her. She actually looks quite cute, but there's just something about her that feels weird. I dropped my gaze to her clothes.

Her embarrassed face suddenly appeared in my mind. The scene at the party when she was humiliated. The clothes she's wearing right now. Argh. I don't think I can hold it in any longer... Frustrated, I threw my hands up and slashed the air between us with my palms. Minzy stopped taking in surprise and looked at me.

"Stop! Just stop, for a while, thank you." I frowned, shaking my head.

"What is it? Is there anything wrong with my plans? If there is, tell me, so I can-" She tried to smile.

I shook my head again. "No. This isn't about your plans. I think your plans are okay. What isn't okay is your fashion sense."

I really do not know how to tolerate with people with zero fashion sense. They just make me want to explode.

Minzy's P.O.V.

I was halfway into my plan, when Jiyong shocked me with his hands nearly hitting my face.

I looked up, startled.

"Your clothes. Tsk. Did you get your top from the clearance sale at the thrift shop beside the school?" He started off, pointing agitatedly to my top. I stared at him in amazement. Actually, yeah, I did! I was impressed. "How did you know-" I tried to ask him excitedly but again he cut me off.

"Don't interrupt me when I'm talking. Next. Your pants. I see the fishmonger at the market near my house wear this! It's exactly the same!" He waved his hands about, continuing with his rants and completely ignoring my question. I frowned. This guy is starting to get annoying.

"Your socks!!! Oh my gosh. Why do you even wear rainbow stripes to school? Are you trying too hard to look like a kindergartener?" He stared at my feet. My cheeks flushed and I looked down. I prayed hard he didn't notice the hole at the seam of the right sock I was wearing.

"In conclusion, you're a fashion disaster. Everything on you has to go. And I mean, seriously. You're working on a fashion article series right now, how do you expect people to be convinced if they find out how fashionable you actually are?" He finished off his long analysis and looked at me in the eye.

This Jiyong is seriously pissing me off. I was about to say something to defend myself, but he beat me to it.

"And oh. I almost forgot. Last but not least. Your red specs. They need to go." With that, he tried to reach out for my spectacles but I smacked his hand angrily. His eyes widened in shock and he stared at me, ogly-eyed.

"Yes, I know my fashion sense sucks, yes, I know I am a fashion disaster. But never have I met someone as rude as you who blatantly listed out all my bad points in my face!" I spat out, pointing at him as I stood up from my seat.

"I'm sure as long as you dress up, you'll look better! Trust me!" He tried to convince me but I stood my stand.

"I don't see how my dressing will affect the success of this series. Work is work. I won't get it mixed up, thank you very much. I will contact you via email. I don't think we need to meet up for now."

With that, I quickly packed up my stuff and left. Jiyong simply say there, and was that a smirk I observed on his face? I didn't know what got into me, really. I rarely lost my temper, but when I did, it was hell. To be honest, this isn't the first time people told me my fashion sense sucked. So why did I get so angry today? I even left the mini meeting, something that I would never do. Sighing, I pushed up my specs as I headed towards the cafeteria. Guess I would do my work there.

3rd person P.O.V.

Minzy spun her pen as she stared at the papers in front of her, spacing out. She was still thinking about the incident a while ago, and just couldn't seem to concentrate. Now that she had the time and chance to sit down and think things through, she wondered if she had been too harsh on Jiyong just now. He was, afterall, trying to help. Heck, he even said she would look better if she changed the way she dressed. Why did she get so pissed off by him? He didn't do anything wrong, now that she thought of it.

She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she did not notice somebody watching her, from a distance away.
