The Price of Vanity

The Price

LuHan didn't come out of his room all day, terrified about what had happened. He ignored when people came to his door, but his mother finally convinced him to open it. She was shocked about what had happened, and left. Going to his father, she told him that something was terribly wrong.

The Korean king heard them speaking and stepped in. “Your son has been cursed. The same thing happened to someone we know. He was sent to a mansion by himself, and he saw that he was not living life as he should have been. He was eventually turned back into a human when he changed his attitude and saw people differently,” he smiled at the Chinese king and queen. “It is very effective, and that is what has happened to your son. We must send him to an abandoned palace and let him live there until he changes. We will provide a servant for him. If you noticed the rose, that's his hour glass. When it's gone, he will remain the same. We will send suitors for him, and see if he changes his attitude. Then you will have your son back.”

LuHan’s mother gasped. “So, you had someone do this? Why didn’t you ask our permission beforehand?”

“Well, you would have refused to send him, not believing it would work. It was suggested by our daughter, because LuHan is…” He thought about a way to put it gently, and could not. “He’s an asshole. No offense. We want to help him, and this should do the trick. It can't be undone, otherwise.”

His father shook his head, but he saw the logic in it. “Alright. We will send him away, and see if this works.”

**************************

After the situation was explained to him, LuHan was sent to the new mansion, along with his rose and a servant named Sehun. He ignored the other man and went to his bedroom, determining to stay there. He was angry, especially with Princess Minah. She had betrayed him. Now he had a Korean servant. Screw Korea and their morals.

A few hours after being there, he heard a knock on the door. He knew it was the damn Korean servant. Opening the door, he glared at Sehun. “What do you want? You should know better than to disturb me. I don't want anything, and did not call for you. Go away, and do not bother me again,” he hissed, forgetting that the action was fitting, since he looked like a cat.

Sehun raised an eyebrow. “Okay. You’ll get hungry, eventually, prince. It will be ready when you need it.” He smiled at LuHan, who slammed the door in his face.

Sehun left and sat down to read a book. He wasn't going to be treated like a piece of trash, as he had been in the past. If high and mighty Prince LuHan was going to be a jerk, he wouldn't eat. It was up to him.

After a few minutes of reading, Sehun could not concentrate. His mind kept going back to LuHan’s face, with his angry whiskers and ears flat back in irritation. Sehun laughed to himself. He didn't find the prince’s attitude funny, but he certainly did look ridiculous while being a jerk. He would try and to convince him to eat, but not until morning. He could starve and think about it. Come to think of it, he really wanted something, he could get it himself. Sehun went back to his book, blocking the stupid prince out of his mind.
