To Slip Through the Cracks

I'm Here

Dear Diary;
This is the letter I wish I could give to the love of my life. Things I may never say out loud, but are deep in my heart. So...here goes.

You are so close to me, and yet, so far away. You are all I have wanted since I laid eyes on you when I was an awkward fourteen year old trainee and dancer. We have suffered together, and you have brought me back from my health issues.

You are my best friend, and I fear that is all you will ever see me as. I don't think you see what I see, as I want you to so badly. I want YOU, and only you, while maintaining our strong friendship. I know this sounds corny, but I will say it, anyway. It’s not like you will ever see it…lol.

I want to protect you from harm, and hold you in my arms every night...like so many times before, but so much different. You could get anyone you want, with your strong, athletic build and fun and vibrant personality. I just wish you would see ME, and not just as a friend and cute maknae (I don’t think I’m CUTE, but everyone else does). I can't help falling for you more every day.

I love you.

Shim Yejun

Kan watched as LeeU took his luggage outside. The time was finally here, but it still did not seem real. When LeeU glanced at him, he looked away. He would not give the older man the chance to see the pain in his face. He wasn’t worth it, and he was making a huge mistake. He just hoped that LeeU would get screwed over by them, as they had already done over the years or training in Can&J Entertainment. That’s what had pulled them apart.

When they got to the airport, Kan said goodbye to him and watched as Jinon, Yejun and even Raehyun and Daegun hugged LeeU…Lee Seunghyun…goodbye, but he kept a distance. He still was not going to give him anything.

LeeU smiled at him and walked over. He stiffened as the shorter man hugged him.

LeeU knew he was upset so didn’t say anything. He simply walked away, standing in line to board his plane and go to his new life…with his shitty company. ‘Good luck with that one,’ Kan thought to himself.

When they got back to their house, there was silence. No one knew what to say. After sitting in the living room for a while, Raehyun stood up and asked if anyone wanted to go out to the dance room. Daegun agreed, along with Jinon. Yejun glanced at Kan, but did not say a word. Kan smiled at him then walked into their shared bedroom. The maknae knew better, and let him have his space. Yejun watched him leave, and picked up a Japanese phrasebook. He may as well study some more, and take his mind off of this. Kan wasn't happy at all right now and it was a rough time for them all.

The next week was very busy with fan meets, recording, and Japanese promotions. Yejun noticed that Kan seemed to be more depressed and he hadn't really spoken to anyone, which had been expected. Finally, Raehyun pulled Yejun aside.

“Hey, it might help if you took Kan out for a drink. He needs to get out of the house, and you know him better than anyone. The dude needs to get this out of his system, and,”
Raehyun shook his head, offering a lopsided smile. “He won’t listen to me. I know him, but…I AM new to this, and he needs you, not me. Do you know what I’m saying, maknae?”

Yejun sighed. “Yeah, I do, and you’re right. I’ll get him to let me take him out tonight. I’ll be the listening D.D.”

Raehyun chuckled. “Uh, huh. You won’t drink…I don’t believe that for a second,” he grinned. “I guess I’ll be picking you both up later.”

Yejun rolled his eyes. “We’ll see. Thanks, hyung. You’re awesome.”

“I know,” Raehyun hugged him. “We all need to deal with this in our own ways. You can help him.”

********************************

That night, Yejun took Kan out to drink. He noticed that his hyung didn't have much to say, so he waited until he had gone through a few drinks. Yejun sipped his beer, biding his time.

After the fourth beer, Kan sighed. “You know…I kinda knew he was gonna leave us. He’s not reliable," he spaced out for a moment, then continued. "On the other hand, I guess I can’t blame him. He had to wait on ME,” he took a long drink. “If I hadn’t gotten in the accident last year…he might still be with us.”

Yejun touched him on the arm, knowing this had been coming for a while and finally surfacing. However, Kan was wrong. “Hyung, it wasn’t your fault. You got hurt, and yes, it set us back. That wasn’t the reason he left, though.”

Kan looked at him, his eyes red. He was quite intoxicated now. “Bullshit. Things were fine before I got hurt. I am the one who ruined our band.”

Yejun rolled his eyes. “Hyung, our band isn’t ruined. I guess it’s a good thing you didn’t say that in front of Raehyun and Daegun. They wouldn’t want to hear that, because they are working their asses off to help us and become part of the group. It’s not ruined. It’s just a fresh start.”

Kan laughed. “Aren’t you optimistic? That’s not how it happened. He didn’t just leave because he wanted out. It was because we weren’t doing well. We were just fucking fine before my accident. If I hadn’t gotten injured, things would be the same as they were before. It’s my fault. You just…don’t want to see it.”

“So, what? Now you’re calling me stupid or something?” Yejun gave him a disgusted look. “Thanks…” He took a long drink of his second beer. Maybe it would be a good idea for Raehyun to come pick them up. He didn’t know if he could handle this. He had brought Kan out to get all of this out of him but he was being stupid, and was turning into an asshole. Woe is me complex.

Kan smiled at him and he had tears in his eyes. “I’m not calling you stupid, babe. I am calling me stupid. I’m stupid.” He sighed. “Yejunnie, I’m not trying to blame you or the other guys for anything. It’s me. I…” His head dropped down, staring at the bar. His lower lip began to quiver, but he stiffened his jawline, refusing to lose control. Yejun hugged him lightly. Kan leaned into his chest, but kept his composure, to the maknae’s irritation. He needed to get it out, not keep it all inside.

Knowing it would not be a good idea for him to drive them back home, Yejun called Raehyun and asked him to pick them up. The short hyung laughed at him on the phone, telling him “I told you so.” Yejun rolled his eyes, but was happy when he showed up with Jinon and Daegun and they took the car home, also.

When they got home, Jinon helped them both to bed, which was appreciated. Yejun didn't fall asleep right away, though. He was worried about Kan, and hoped that he would be able to help him heal from this. Lying in bed, several thoughts began running through his head: the years of training, his struggle with bulimia and anorexia, not to mention the accident that had nearly ripped Kan out of his life. Their time before debut and in the beginning had not been easy, but they had made it through it all. He just had to convince Kan that it had been worth it.

He couldn’t get Kan’s tortured face out of his head. He could see how Kan could think it was his fault, because they HAD been out for a while. However, HE had been the one to hold up their debut when he had become sick, so it was not an excuse. They hadn’t been able to control Kan getting injured or Yejun getting sick. That was just how life went sometimes. It was not the reason LeeU had left, and Kan needed to accept that. It was going to take some work to get him to understand that and truly believe it.

*************************

Yejun was not sure when he had fallen asleep, but woke up to Raehyun shaking him. “Come on, maknae. We have schedules, and you were sleeping like the dead.” Raehyun was grinning and looking very awake. Yejun hated morning people like Raehyun and Jinon. At least Daegun and Kan looked like they would rather be sleeping, also.

The day went by slowly, filled with schedules and before they knew it, it was evening. Raehyun suggested going out again, but this time they all went. It was nice to get out, but Yejun noticed that Kan still seemed to be acting like a shell of himself. It was not good.

He was jarred out of his thoughts by Daegun, who was hyper and already buzzed. “Come dance with me, Yejun. It’ll be fun.” Before Yejun could resist, he was dragged out to the dance floor. He noticed that Kan was dancing with a girl across the room, but he didn’t really care right now. If that was what was going to make him happy, then okay. Go dance and get drunk. Kan knew that Yejun would always be there for him to spill his problems to. He felt like a support bar, but at least it was something.

Over the next few weeks, Kan seemed to be in a downward spiral, not really talking and falling into depression. Yejun stayed by his side, being there if he ever wanted to talk. However, he knew Kan better than that, and his taller hyung did not mention it. He spoke of other things casually, but would not mention the band or LeeU. He also got grumpy when anyone mentioned him. They all learned to not even talk about him, since Kan did not want anything to do with him. They were concerned about him being depressed, though, and Yejun noticed that Jinon was keeping an eye on him.

One night when everyone else was in the kitchen helping Jinon cook, Yejun found Kan on the balcony. He was worried because it was about five stories down in their Japanese apartment. Walking out to stand next to him, Yejun noticed that Kan looked exhausted. When he placed an arm around him, Kan began to move away.

“I just want to be left alone, Yejun. I…” Kan shook his head, realizing the maknae was not leaving. He sighed. “I feel so helpless, but you were right about it not being my fault. How could he be so insensitive and not care that he was ripping our band apart?” He sighed heavily, running his hand down the rail. “I just feel like giving up sometimes. It doesn’t seem worth it.”

Yejun smiled. “Well, the fans love us. That’s a bright spot. They will love us when we go back to Korea, too. We’ll be fine. I promise. Besides…”He stared out at the city. It was beautiful. “I’m still here. So is Jinon, as well as Daegun and Raehyun. They joined us because they wanted to and we needed them. You have to give them a little credit,” he glanced at Kan, who was still staring at the cars parked far below. They have worked their asses off.” He repeated the phrase he had uttered a few weeks ago, when Kan had been drunk.

Kan nodded. “I know,” Despite just now saying he wanted to be alone, he leaned into Yejun’s shoulder. The maknae wrapped his arms around him. After a moment, he could feel Kan shaking, and he began to sob again. Yejun cried with him, letting him drain all the pain and anger out. This was painful, and Yejun hadn’t realized how much stress and pain he had been suppressing, himself. He began to feel much lighter, once the tears stopped.

When Kan finally stepped back, Yejun took his hand and rubbed it gently. “Saranghae…neage aein.” He stared up into Kan’s face, searching his dark eyes. They were so sad. Leaning up, he kissed Kan gently on the lips. “I’m here, and I love you more than anything.”

Kan touched his face, thinking. He suddenly pushed Yejun against the wall, kissing him passionately. “Thank you for being here for me. I’m sorry I have been such an idiot.” He kissed him gently. “Saranghaeyo, Yejun. You’re always here for me, and I’m sorry I don’t always appreciate or see it.” He was quiet for a moment, then grinned. “How would you like to take this inside?” That grin was the first one Yejun had seen in weeks. “You could REALLY make me feel better…”

Yejun grinned, kissing him gently. “Okay. That is something I have dreamt of for years.” He pulled Kan back into the apartment and into their bedroom. “Now it’s actually happening.”

Kan shut the door with his foot, then pulled Yejun’s shirt off. “Ne…”

Yejun captured his mouth in a kiss, working at Kan’s shirt. Once the buttons were undone, he pushed it off. He did not waste any time getting Kan’s pants off and throwing them on the floor. He could see the older man’s erection pressing against his boxers, so Yejun ran his hand over them, teasing him. Kan cursed, unzipping Yejun’s pants. The maknae kicked them off quickly, then took his own underwear off, also.
Kan took a moment to take in the naked site before him. He didn’t think he would ever see him best friend nude, about to be fucked by his cock. It was almost unbelievable. Thinking of that, he took his boxers off quickly, kissing Yejun on the neck. The younger man uttered a not so quiet moan, and Kan smirked. He should have known that Yejun would not be quiet. It was not in his nature. He was never quiet.

Yejun stared into his eyes with a heated expression, pulling him down on the bed on top of him. He lifted one leg, guiding Kan’s hand to his opening. Kan stuck a finger through the tight ring of muscle, earning a yelp from Yejun that was halfway between pain and pleasure. He added another finger, and began scissoring to loosen the muscles. Once he could insert three fingers without too much resistance, he knew that Yejun was ready to take his cock.

“Okay, babe. This will probably hurt a little more than fingers,” he waited for a moment, and Yejun only answered him with a shrug. Taking that as an okay, Kan placed his cock against Yejun’s opening and pressed the head in. He saw Yejun’s eyes widen, and he felt bad. However, not bad enough to stop. It was normal. Thrusting in inch by inch, Kan felt that Yejun was adjusting to his cock, as the tightness relaxed.

Leaning down, he kissed the gorgeous maknae, then pushed the rest of the way in.

Yejun moaned, but this time it was in pleasure. Pulling out slightly, he thrust back in carefully. Yejun arched against him, pushing his cock deeper. The maknae was still not quiet, as he was now a moaning mess beneath Kan.

Thrusting harder, he felt Yejun moving with him to meet his thrusts. Kan was feeling better than he had in months, and it was all because of the young lover he was currently deep inside of. They began to move together, the older man thrusting into the younger forcefully now. Yejun wrapped his long legs around Kan’s waist, allowing him easier access. Kan took advantage of it, and hit a spot inside of him that made Yejun echo off the thin walls. The others were going to know what had happened, but neither of them cared. Hitting his sweet spot every time, Kan felt himself getting close. Yejun cried out and came on Kan’s stomach. Kan followed after one more thrust, cumming deep inside of his lover.

Kan lay his head on Yejun’s chest, catching his breath. Yejun leaned his head down and kissed his silky hair, closing his eyes. He had dreamt of this several times, but had not imagined that it would be so wonderful.

After he caught he breath, Kan smiled at him. He had tears in his eyes. “You saved me, love. I don’t know what I would do without you. You are my everything.”

Yejun kissed him lightly. “I love you, Younghak.” He didn’t use Kan’s real name very often, and it was nice.

“I love you, too.” Kan pulled out, gaining a slight gasp from his lover. He pulled the shorter man against him, holding him tightly. They would get through this hard time together. Everything would be okay.
