[03] - So Hot Melody

Jeon Eunjo only goes out once a month for groceries. He wastes his days inside of his house, sitting in front of his old piano. Though it’s been there for years, all of its keys still work perfectly fine, so he never thought of replacing it. It’s been his pal for a really long time. He had a lot of memories with it, memories that he won’t be having anymore, like when Seungji used to sit with him and he would play for her for hours.
Seungji was his fiancé, but there won’t be any wedding to come anymore. No… Seungji’s not dead… Eunjo was. He was as good as dead ever since she left him. Maybe she got bored or got tired. Maybe she wanted to have adventures in her life, the ones that Eunjo can never give her. Maybe she found someone else who could make her feel alive more than Eunjo could, he really doesn’t know. And maybe he’ll never know.
He stared at their photograph that he kept on top of the piano, so he can easily look at it while he plays. But he’s not playing today, no. He hasn’t been playing for a really long time. He did try though, but he failed each and every time. He lost his rhythm, his melody, like his fingers suddenly didn’t know how to play anymore. He lost his inspiration, his whole life. He lost everything the moment Seungji walked out of his door. He knew she won’t be coming back, and nothing ever will.
He closed his eyes, trying once again. He pressed the keys and played, but something was wrong, like always. He tried again, this time doing a different variation, but he just made it worse. He used to recognize every single note, which sound was made by which, but not anymore. It was all foreign to him, like it was his first time playing.
“Seungji-ah~”, he began to whisper as he rested his head on the piano keys. “Come back Seungji-ah… Oppa can’t play… Oppa needs you…”

It’s been a week since the day Soyeon received her mission. When Shadow gave her the mission card with all the information about Jeon Eunjo and saw that he was a famous song writer, Soyeon imagined herself walking with the guy following her around singing love songs with his guitar. But no… it wasn’t anywhere near that.
She felt like a sasaeng fan hiding in a bush by a window of Jeon Eunjo’s place for hours every other day. She thought it would be a lot of fun to secretly go on dates, but that guy was no fun at all. Why can’t he be like Qri or Eunjung’s namja? Hwangjoo-ssi always hung out with Qri. Kyungsam-ssi even took Eunjung out on a date at a lake. They both had some real fun with cool guys and Soyeon’s here, stuck with an over-stressed guy who won’t even get out of his house.
She’s been complaining to Shadow every single day.
“Can’t you change the guy for my mission? He’s impossible!”, she said once again while they were on their way to the practice room for their first dance practice session for their comeback.
“Nope.”, was all Shadow replied. “That’s not how it works.”
“Yeah, Soyeon unnie, that’s so unfair. Qri unnie and I never complained when we did our mission.”, Eunjung said, annoying Soyeon even more.

Soyeon wasn’t good at stuff like this. That night, she went back to Jeon Eunjo’s place. It was her first time going during the night. She figured that maybe that was the time when he goes out.
She felt close now with the bush that she was always hiding in. Peeking in his window, she saw him sitting on his usual place in front of his old grand piano, crying. As much as she felt sorry for the guy, Soyeon is so getting stressed by his behavior.
“Seungji-ah… Come back Seungji-ah…”, he kept murmuring again, like always.
“She’s not coming back!”, she wanted to yell. But she thought that would be very harsh. The guy seemed to like this Seungji girl so much. Why would he waste his life like this if he didn’t, right? Soyeon tried to understand how Jeon Eunjo is feeling right now, but she still thinks that locking himself away from society wouldn’t do any good.
If she was in his situation, she would want to talk to someone about it. Does Jeon Eunjo want to talk about it with someone too? Maybe he doesn’t have anyone to talk to. Maybe that’s why he’s acting like this. But Soyeon doesn’t understand the male mind, so she can’t just enter his door and comfort him.
She had no idea how she’s gonna do the mission. Did Shadow even check this guy’s profile first before giving her the stupid mission? When he saw that Jeon Eunjo is a song writer, who appears to be single, did he just print his face on a stupid mission card and asked Soyeon to make the guy fall for her? That’s just not right.
Jeon Eunjo was already in love. He’s in love with that girl, Seungji. Soyeon wasn’t sure whether she was dead or what. But she seemed to mean the whole world to Jeon Eunjo. Soyeon just thought that it’s too cruel breaking a heart that’s already broken. This guy doesn’t deserve to be toyed with. She just didn’t want to do the mission anymore.
She spent the whole hour looking at the sorrowful man, though the mosquitoes weren’t being so nice to her at all. He just kept doing things that he always did. Try to play his piano, mess up some notes, then give up and cry, call on the same name over and over, and beg for love.
“Come back Seungji-ah… Oppa misses you…”, Soyeon couldn’t get Jeon Eunjo’s cry out of her head as she headed back to their dorm.
Eunjung was already passed asleep when she got to their room. And she didn’t stop thinking of that man she’s supposed to date. She’s never seen anyone so lonely, so hopeless. And suddenly, she realized that maybe she did have to do the mission. And she decided to do it. Sitting in front of her desk, she grabbed a pen, finally having an idea of what she could do for him.

Eunjo woke up with his head rested on his old piano. After eating a small breakfast, he forced himself to hit the showers, which he hasn’t been doing for quite some time now. Putting on some fresh clothes, he was ready to have another typical day.
But something caught his attention, something by his window. He walked slowly towards a piece of paper folded in half with some bracelet on top. But, no, it wasn’t a bracelet. It’s a wristband, and a really cool one. He picked it up and examined it. There wasn’t anything unusual about it at all, except for the two lines that made it look so cool.
He sat comfortably on his sofa, opening the piece of paper, something that he didn’t know could turn his world around.

“Twinkle, twinkle, little star… How I wonder what you are… Up above the world, so high… Like a diamond in the sky…”
This is a famous nursery rhyme composed by a famous musician at a very young age. It’s very simple, but lasted for generations. Wouldn’t it be nice playing it today?

Eunjo was so confused. He didn’t get it. The letter included the score of “Twinkle, Twinkle”. It was so weird that someone would leave a letter like this. He just didn’t get it.
He kept reading the letter over and over, and he didn’t get bored. Every time he read it, felt like he hasn’t read it before. A few minutes later, he found himself playing “Twinkle, Twinkle” like a little kid. One note after another, he finished the song. He realized it was his first time playing perfectly in a really long time.
Somehow, the thought made him laugh. He laughed, and laughed even harder. He felt like a crazy man as he did so, crazier than he’d been the past few days. But this time, things seem to make more sense, like he was a part of the world again.
He kept playing the same notes over and over as the day passed and night fell. Finishing the nursery rhyme for the thousandth time, he stopped and smiled at his photo with Seungji.
“Heard that, Seungji-ah?”, he began. “Oppa played well today. It must be you who left that message.”, he said though knowing that it can’t be true. “I would be really happy to see you again.”
Thinking of Seungji, he felt tears forming in his eyes again, like the way it did a lot of times. And he realized that he hasn’t cried all day.
Finally finding a piece of paper, he took his time to think of what he should write.

This time, Soyeon brought an insecticide. “Take that you little monsters!”, she yelled quietly as she sprayed at the mosquitoes.
Soyeon was happy to see Jeon Eunjo play that night. It was very cute looking at a professional pianist, enjoy playing a nursery rhyme. She was surprised to see him pick up her letter. Looking back at a picture frame on top of the piano, he began crying again. Though she couldn’t see who’s in the photograph from outside the window, she guessed it was that girl, Seungji.
“It must be you who left that message… I would be really happy to see you again.”, she heard him say. The guy was really impossible. “How could you think that?! I left the letter, you babo!”, she thought to herself, trying to stay quiet.
Soyeon tensed as she saw him writing on a piece of paper. She knew she had to move, fast. She made her way out of Jeon Eunjo’s property. She saw him from afar, going out of his house. He seemed to pick a flower from his dying garden, before he went back in. She waited as he looked out of the window before leaving a piece of paper along with the flower he just picked.
Soyeon stayed put for a few long minutes before going back to the window. She peeked inside the house first. Eunjo wasn’t anywhere in sight. He must’ve already gone to bed. Soyeon quickly picked up the letter and the flower before rushing off to go home.

Jeon Eunjo’s been dead for quite some time now. But he lived today. Thank You.

Soyeon felt relieved that he didn’t asked who she was, but a part of her felt mad that maybe Jeon Eunjo thinks that she’s Seungji. Pushing the thought away, she read his letter once again. His hand writing was alright, good enough for a guy’s penmanship. For some reason she couldn’t stop reading it over and over. Somehow, she felt like she did something right.

He kept playing with the wristband, spinning it with his finger as he lied on his bed, thinking of the girl who wrote the letter. He already knew the letter wasn’t Seungji’s hand writing, but he still hoped that it’s her that he would’ve seen that night.
Eunjo wasn’t someone that can be fooled easily. She was wearing a cap, but he saw the girl’s face as he hid behind his television set. She was pretty, and somehow she looked familiar to him. Though he didn’t know where, he was sure he’d seen her somewhere before.
Finally feeling his eyelids getting heavy, he put the wristband on his bedside table along with the letter. He closed his eyes ready to welcome a new day.

Another week passed, but this time, Soyeon didn’t get bored. Writing letters for Jeon Eunjo became part of her daily routine. She stops by his place to leave a letter, and then get a reply every night along with a flower from his garden, which seem to be getting watered now.
Preparing for their comeback, overtime dance practices and strict diet didn’t seem to bother Soyeon as much as it used to. Jeon Eunjo’s letters always kept her occupied. Every day before her schedules start, she’d be exited to get up and leave her letters for him. And every night she wouldn’t feel tired as she read his letters for her.
It may not be the kind of dates that she expected, but every word by Jeon Eunjo’s pen gave her the comfort she needed. He made her forget her worries. It felt like Soyeon had an alternate world, a world where she holds a pen instead of a microphone, a world where she’s not standing on stage but hiding behind a bush instead.
It didn’t feel like a mission to her. It felt like she found a friend.



“Twinkle Twinkle” was inspired by a star, a really bright one. Try to find your brightest star. The night sky is endless. There has to be a star for you, you just have to find it.

That was what she said when Eunjo told her he couldn’t play anymore. He kept reading it as he stood outside, looking up at the night sky. There were a lot of stars. Eunjo didn’t know what he was trying to find. He already found his brightest star once. But it’s gone now. Seungji’s gone.
He took out the wristband that came along with the first letter he received. “When you’re ready to live again, just wear it.”, that’s what she told him when he asked what it was for.
He’s been thinking about it. But as much as he wanted to, he still wasn’t ready to live again. He couldn’t let Seungji go. Her beautiful eyes, her smile, her scent, her voice, Eunjo couldn’t forget any of it. But something in him changed. He used to wake up every morning hoping to see Seungji beside him, hoping that the sight of her leaving was all just a dream, but not anymore. Now, Eunjo wakes up excited, excited to find a letter on his window plane.
He felt time slipping by. Every second, minute, it was all going to waste. He used to ask Seungji every time he didn’t know what to do. But, there’s no one to ask anymore. He didn’t know what he should do, but he had to decide. He had to decide now.
He went back to his house and took a paper and pen. He knew what he was doing. Though he didn’t know if it was the right thing, he chose to do it. He didn’t care anymore. He was already dead. He knew there’s nothing to risk and nothing to lose, because he already lost everything he had. He thought back to yesterday. He thought of what he used to be when Seungji was around, how much he loved her, how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, and their dreams for each other.
Finally gathering his courage, he started to write the last letter he would ever write to the girl who gave him a choice to live.

Soyeon made her way to the window that served as a bridge between her and Jeon Eunjo. Like all the time, a letter is placed on the window plane. But there’s something wrong. There’s no flower with it tonight.
She sprayed at the mosquitoes before reaching out for the letter. She used to read it when she gets back to their dorm but something about it told her that she should open it now.
She didn’t understand. She read it again, and again, until it finally made sense to her. NO!, she thought to herself. She wanted to run. She wanted to go as far away as possible. She wasn’t ready for this. Please not tonight. She thought again before turning to run off.
But her whole body froze as Jeon Eunjo stood in front of her, offering her the flower that supposed to go with the paper she was holding. The letter slipped out of her fingers and fell on the ground.
“Hello. My name is Jeon Eunjo. But, you can just call me Eunjo or anything you want. It’s nice to be finally meeting you.”, says the small piece of paper lying on the grass.
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”, Soyeon was totally on the panic zone. She didn’t know what she was doing. She watched as Jeon Eunjo fell on the ground screaming louder than she did, rubbing his eyes. Soyeon dropped the insecticide before going towards Jeon Eunjo.

It burns. It totally burns. Eunjo thought he was gonna be playing instruments on the streets with his sunglasses on for the rest of his life. But luckily the pain finally eased after a few minutes.
He didn’t expect his first meeting with Park Soyeon to be like this. Yes, it finally made sense to him. She was familiar because he’d seen her on music shows. She was an idol. His pen pal was a singer.
“I’m really really rea~~lly sorry~”, she said again for like the hundredth time now.
“No. I’m okay. It doesn’t hurt that much anymore.”, he replied, feeling awkward to be sitting beside her.
“I’m so sorry, I panicked and I didn’t know what to do. And…”
“No, it’s okay… I’m really fine now.”, he said, cutting her off.

Soyeon lied a lot. Eunjo kept asking her a bunch of questions that she wasn’t ready for. “Why did you came to my house in the first place?”, “How did you know my address?”, “Why did you write to me instead of just knocking on my door?”, “Why did you bring an insecticide?”
Soyeon came at midnight, and it’s already 2:30 in the morning now. They spent the night talking. Eunjo asked while Soyeon explained.
“Why did you even bother to make me feel better? You don’t even know me.”, he went on.
“Well, I know you now, right?”, it was the best thing she could come up with.
“Hey, Eunjo-ssi~”, she said, trying to change the topic. “Do you feel what I’m feeling?”, she knew it was time to ask. She didn’t meet his eyes as she waited for him to answer.
“Uhmmm… What are you… feeling?”, his expression made Soyeon laugh.
“That wasn’t what I meant!!! I mean aren’t you feeling sleepy?”, she said still laughing. “We’re preparing for our comeback so we have to practice a lot and it’s really late now. I still have to practice tomorrow.”
“Oh! I’m so sorry… I didn’t realize time passing by. C’mon… I’ll drive you home.”, she appreciated his offer.
“You have a car?”, she’d been at the guy’s place a lot of times but it was her first time to notice his car.
“Duh? Did I say I’ll walk you home?”, he said sarcastically, which surprised Soyeon that he had this kind of side.
She immediately sent her manager a text saying not to wait for her anymore. She felt guilty for causing a lot of trouble to her manager these past few days. She always asks him to wait for her two blocks away while she gets Eunjo’s letters. He really needed a break.
They didn’t talk much while on the way, but she noticed that he was wearing the wristband she gave him. Though it didn’t feel right for her, she remembered the real reason why she was with this man tonight.
Soyeon finally understood what Eunjung felt when she’s sleepy. When she got home, she dropped dead on her bed after asking their Sajangnim for a day-off for her mission. Eunjo’s invitation felt like a dream to her as she closed her eyes.

Soyeon seriously overslept. She was supposed to come by Eunjo’s place at 9am and it was already noon. All her members have already gone for practice and she was alone in their dorm.
Soyeon has never taken a bath that fast before. She must’ve broken her personal record today. Putting on a pair of clothes, she sat in front of her desk to work on her make-up. Again, she has never done it in such a short period of time.
Soyeon was ready to go when the doorbell rang. She was surprised to see Jeon Eunjo as she opened the door.
“Hey~ I thought you must’ve overslept so I just came by instead.”, he started.
“Yeah~ I did kinda overslept a little.”, she apologized before letting him in.
“No. That’s alright. Do want me to go buy something to eat and let’s just have lunch here instead?”, it was nice of him to ask.
“Lunch would be great. But, can’t we just go out for lunch, there’s really nothing much here.”, she suggested.
“Go… out?”, he asked like Soyeon just said a bad word. “Uhmmm… wouldn’t anyone recognize you? I mean… I don’t want you to get in trouble.”
“What? No… it’s okay. I know a place.”, she grinned at him, knowing they would have a great time today.

Eunjo’s been at Sweet Chopsticks a couple of times before. But he didn’t expect that he would be having a date here with Park Soyeon. He felt like a ninja hiding with her.
“Hwangjoo-ssi~”, she whisper at one of the waiters who seem to recognize her immediately.
“Oh~ Soyeon-ssi… Waeyo?”, he asked casually like it was natural for someone like Soyeon to be here.
“Can you get us a table for VIPs? I’m having a date with someone today.”, the waiter, Hwangjoo-ssi, turned to him, noticing him for the first time.
“Annyeonghaseyo! Nam Hwangjoo-imnida!”, he introduced himself enthusiastically and bowed to him.
One moment, the waiter seemed honored to meet him but within second his smile faded, his expression turned grim as he faced Soyeon.
“Soyeon-ssi…”,he whispered to her though Eunjo could hear it clearly. “Are you doing a…”, he didn’t finish his sentence but Soyeon seemed to understand what he meant.
She whispered back to him something that Eunjo guessed would be “Yes”. He didn’t know what it was all about, but he decided not to ask.
Hwangjoo-ssi led them upstairs. There were a lot of tables but they were the only ones there.
“This is supposed to be reserved for special events like parties or big gatherings but I already asked my manager about it and he said it’s alright if you stay here.”, the waiter said as he led them to their seats.
While taking their orders, Hwangjoo-ssi seemed to be examining Eunjo, which somehow made him uncomfortable. He looked at him like he was asking him something, or trying to tell him something, like warning him. He stared back at the waiter, confused.
Soyeon suddenly announced her order, breaking the tension on the air. Hwangjoo-ssi listed it on his notepad. But, he kept glancing at their table while filling their glasses with water. But no, he wasn’t glancing at the table. He was glancing at Eunjo’s hand, at his wristband. Eunjo felt really weird now.
Before leaving, the waiter looked at him one last time. This time it seemed more like a sympathetic look, like Eunjo was someone to pity. He hated it. He hated the way that guy looked at him.
“What’s up with him?!”, he immediately asked Soyeon as soon as the waiter was gone.
“Huh? Why?”, she asked back.
“The way he stares is creeping me out! Have you dated him once?”, Eunjo knew it wasn’t right to be asking things like this, but he had to know.
“What? No… He’s just really like that. He was also like that when we first met him. The guy who speaks through his eyes.”, she explained to him.
“Well, it’s creepy.”, Eunjo meant it. The guy was really weird.

Soyeon knew they would have a great time. But, she didn’t expect that it would be that much fun. They were back at Eunjo’s place as the sun started to set. She noticed that the usual picture frame on top of his piano wasn’t there today.
They’ve spent the whole day chatting about random things. Soyeon looked at him as he sat across the sofa. She has always looked at him straight in the eyes, but she never realized how kind he looked. He wasn’t a handsome hot guy like Kyungsam-ssi. But his eyes were very peaceful, like every thing’s gonna be okay.
Eunjo wasn’t childish kind of guy. He barely joked around. He wasn’t the charming type either, not the know-it-all type, not the shy type, definitely not the bad boy type either. He was just a simple guy, a little bit of having everything.
She must’ve been staring because Eunjo suddenly stop talking and looked down feeling awkward.
“Uhmmm… sorry. I was just…”, she didn’t know what to say and just ended up laughing instead.
Eunjo joined her and she appreciated it.
“Hey Soyeon~”, he began. “Can I ask you to do something for me?”
“It depends on what I have to do…”, she replied with a smile.
“Can you sing for me?”, he said, his eyes meeting hers.
Soyeon has heard that a lot of time before. But she felt nervous about singing in front of Eunjo.
“Okay, but I want you to play while I sing. I don’t feel like doing an a cappella.”, she knew she had him. She’d been looking forward to ask him to play for her, and she knew this was the right moment.
It took him a while before answering. “Yeah… sure.”

Soyeon felt happy seeing Eunjo play well. No, he wasn’t playing “Twinkle Twinkle” today. He’s playing a real song. Soyeon sang naturally as he accompanied her. She was surprised when he sang with her on the chorus. He had a nice voice.
She sat with him in front of the piano, singing while he plays and sings with her from time to time. It was a moment to treasure.
Soyeon always dreamed of having a candle light dinner with a nice guy. And Eunjo made it happen. He sat in front of her across the table. It was just a simple dinner they were having, but Eunjo made it special with the candles and the background music.
He stared at her making her feel awkward. She looked away wishing she didn’t blush. It would be very embarrassing if she did.
“Soyeon-ah~”, she looked at him as he said her name. “You look really pretty tonight.”
Soyeon could feel she’s really blushing now. “Why are you saying that now when it’s dark?!”, she joked, trying to change the atmosphere.
Eunjo laughed before started staring at her again. “No. I really mean it. I’m lucky to have someone like you.”
As much as Soyeon wanted to hear more, she didn’t like where this was going. She kept silent as she went on with her dinner.
Eunjo must’ve realized Soyeon didn’t want the topic. He just kept quiet as they finished their meal. They chatted a little before Eunjo stood up to change the music.
It was something she’s never heard before. It was a solemn music with nice melody. It was very beautiful like every note was very sincere.
Her heart skipped a beat as Eunjo offered his hand for a dance. Soyeon couldn’t remember the last time she had a slow dance with a guy. She could feel her heart pounding as they made their way in the middle of the living room.
She could feel his arms around her waist as they swayed slowly at the rhythm.
“I wrote this song this morning.”, he said, looking straight in her eyes. “It was the first one I’ve composed in a really long time.”, she couldn’t believe his words. But somehow, she knew he meant it, and that made her happy.
“Really? That’s good. I told you, you can do it.”, she said giving him a smile.
“I found a really bright star. I’m not sure if it’s the brightest, but just looking at it makes me happy. Being with it, makes me feel alive.”, he didn’t look away as he pulled her closer to him.
“Eunjo-ya~”, she tried to speak but she didn’t know what to say.
“Soyeon-ah…”, he said her name, his tone was still and very kind. Slowly, he gently took her hand and placed it in front of his chest right over his heart. “Can you feel it? My heart works again. It’s beating again. It’s beating for you…”
Soyeon found herself lost for words. She pulled away even before he could say anything more. Soyeon liked being with Eunjo. She liked reading his letters. She had a friend she didn’t want to lose. He was someone she couldn’t hurt. She didn’t know why Seungji did it. She didn’t know how she’d done it. Soyeon just couldn’t. She couldn’t break him. Not now that she just fixed what Seungji left broken.
She forced a smile, trying her best not to offend Eunjo. “Sorry… Eunjo-ya I’m… It’s just… it’s… it’s getting late.”, she manage to say.
Eunjo got back to his house after dropping Soyeon off to their dorm. He lied on his bed, replaying everything that happened that day. He opened his eyes reaching out to the photograph on his bedside table that used to be on top of his piano.
He closed his eyes again refusing to see Seungji’s smile. Everything suddenly went back to him. The girl in the photograph, the love of his life, the one he dreamt with all his life, Seungji. He felt guilty for attempting to confess to Soyeon that night. He felt guilty dancing with her. He felt guilty having a date with her, writing a song for her, and doing all the things that he should’ve done with Seungji.
He felt like he betrayed the girl he loved. But no, Seungji was the one who turned her back. Seungji was the one who left him. Seungji was the one who took everything away from him and Soyeon brought it all back. Soyeon gave him back his life, his dreams, his heart, and all the love he lost.
He fell in love with her. And he’s not regretting any of it, not anymore. He closed his eyes with Soyeon being his last though before drifting off to sleep.

“You can’t keep him like this forever.”, Qri said to Soyeon as she sat with her in their living room.
The rest of the girls were at Eunjung and Soyeon’s room watching a movie. Soyeon had to talk about it with someone and Qri was the first one who had her mission.
“You should’ve seen the way he was when I first came to his place. He was hopeless… I can’t leave him. Not like this.”, she cried.
“I understand what you feel, and I can’t blame you. I felt the same way with Hwangjoo, but everything went fine.”, she replied, trying to comfort her as Eunjung went out to sit with them.
“That’s because Hwangjoo-ssi was the one who ended it. Eunjo would never do that.”, she was Eunjo’s life now. She couldn’t imagine what he would be if she abandon him like Seungji did.
“Soyeon unnie~ He would just get hurt even more if you don’t end it as soon as possible.”, Eunjung said, holding her hand.
“It won’t be possible… I don’t wanna be like Seungji.”, she meant it. Seungji didn’t even thought of what would happen to Eunjo. She didn’t even care, but Soyeon does. She can’t live knowing that she took away a man’s whole life.
“Then don’t! Don’t be like her.”, Qri’s words snapped Soyeon out of her breakdown.

Soyeon spends her day at Eunjo’s every morning and practicing every afternoon to midnight. It went like that for a few more days. One time when Soyeon was sitting with Eunjo in front of the piano as he plays, he suddenly stopped in the middle of the song.
“Why?”, she asked him.
“I have something for you.”, she waited as he went upstairs.
When he got back, he was holding a very cute star.
“Here… you like it?”, she couldn’t help to smile as she held the stuff toy.
“It’s so cute!”, she hugged the star really tight.
“Yeah~ A cute little star for my beautiful star.”, he smiled at her.
She looked at him feeling blessed that she met Jeon Eunjo. Though, she knew she couldn’t pay him back the love that he’s giving her, she didn’t want the guy to get hurt. She wanted to spend more time with him.

“Soyeon-ah~”, Eunjo called out before Soyeon could leave for practice.
“Wae~?”, she turned to him.
Today was a special day for Eunjo. Before he met Soyeon, he’s always been worried about this day. What he would do, how would he spend it, what would he eat, what would he wear, should he celebrate or what… he didn’t know. But he decided to make this day something he would look forward to in the future. He wanted this day to be something he would be excited about instead of something to fear.
He knew she was surprised as he held her hand. “Today is a special day, you know?”, he said pulling her back in the living room and closing his front door.
“Huh? Why?”, she asked him.
“Because today, I have something important to tell you.”, he said. Eunjo was excited. He’s been preparing for this day, and here it goes now.
“Huh? What is it?”, he smiled at her question before taking out a box out of his pocket.
He opened it, revealing a silver bracelet with little notes hanging all over it. Soyeon didn’t say anything, but Eunjo could tell she was surprised. She kept quiet as he put in on her wrist.
She kissed her hand before kneeling down on one knee. “I love you Park Soyeon. Will you be my star forever?”
So much for dreaming... Eunjo have been imagining how things would go. It was always a happy ending in his head. He never thought that anything like this could happen. He never thought this could happen again.
His heart broke as Soyeon pulled her hand and backed away from him. His hands were trembling he couldn’t find the strength to stand up.
“S-Soyeon-ah~”, he could feel his tears forming. He couldn’t believe what was happening.
“Eunjo-ya~ Jeon Eunjo~”, she held his hand as she kneeled down with him. “I’m so sorry…”
“What?”, Eunjo couldn’t understand. Soyeon cares for him. He loves her and he thought she loved him too.
“I can’t… I’m so sorry.”, to Eunjo’s surprise, she pulled the his wristband off his wrist and began making her way out of his door.
Jeon Eunjo saw a very familiar scenario as Soyeon turned her back getting farther and farther away from him. But this time he couldn’t just stay and watch.
“No!”, he caught her before she could open the door. He hugged her tight not wanting to let go. “No, Soyeon-ah… please don’t…”, he begged.
Eunjo couldn’t stop his tears flowing down his cheeks. He loved her. He didn’t want to lose her like he lost Seungji. He didn’t want to get hurt again.
“You made me live again, Soyeon-ah… I was dead and you saved me. When I met you, I noticed the rainbows again. I heard the birds singing again. I learned how wish upon stars again. I sang in my showers again. Everything made sense when you came. I don’t wanna go back Soyeon-ah… I don’t wanna go back.”, Soyeon was crying too as she turned to face him.
“Then don’t… Don’t go back. I’m so sorry Eunjo-ya, but I can’t be with you. I care for you, but I can’t… I can’t do this anymore, okay?”, he understood what she meant. But he couldn’t let her go.
“I’m not Seungji.”, she went on. “Don’t think of me like her. I’m not leaving you but I can’t stay with you either. I’m not the one for you Eunjo-ya… I’m not your brightest star. I know you’ll find your ‘someone’ someday, someone who’ll sit with you in front of your piano forever. But, it’s not me. I have a different world… and I’m just here to tell you the life goes on. I’m so sorry.”
And with that, she slipped off of his arms. He didn’t stop her. He just watched her walk away. He watched Soyeon leave his door the same day Seungji did. But Soyeon left him in a different state. Soyeon left him standing. She left him breathing. She left him alive.

“Soyeon-ah! Hurry they’re about to play it.”, Soyeon read Eunjo’s text message just in time for her to turn on the radio, and he was right. In just a few seconds a sweet sound of melody was played in the radio.
T-ara’s comeback was getting near. But the girls stopped their practice to gather around the radio with Soyeon. They listened to the song as memories flashed through Soyeon’s mind. Romantic candle light dinner at Eunjo’s place, his hand offered to her.
Eunjo was back in the music industry now, composing the best songs. And now, Soyeon is happy that the girls could get to listen to this song on the very day it was released, the song she danced with Jeon Eunjo.

She would never forget this melody.
