Chapter One

“Your Highness.” A quiet voice beckoned as Yunho felt someone gripping his shoulder, shaking it in hopes that he’d wake up. “Your Highness.” The voice said again just a little louder. Yunho stirred slightly as his shoulder continued shake. He grunted softly as the shaking grew move violent.

“You don’t have to call me that.” Yunho announced groggily as he turned to push his face into the pillow. Suddenly the shaking stopped and Yunho could finally relax into the pillow as he had intended.

“Hyung~” The voice cooed again, his voice going higher as he whined and resumed shaking Yunho. Yunho groaned again.

“Don’t call me that, you’re older than I am.” Yunho said once he recognized the voice. Suddenly, the shaking stopped for a second time. Yunho breathed a sigh of relief into his pillow, but it only lasted for a very brief moment.

“Jung Yunho, you lazy bastard, get up!” Yunho jerked up from where he was laying immediately after a sharp slap landed upon his shoulder. He looked to his left and looked at the face of the perpetrator.

“Damn it, Jaejoong, that hurt!” Yunho whined as he focused his attention to the shoulder he gently began to rub. Jaejoong gently chuckled at the sight of Yunho in pain just before Yunho shot him a glare. Jaejoong stopped laughing, wiping the expression off of his face.

“I’m sorry, Your Highness, but you have to get up. We’re going to be late.” Yunho sighed as he threw his blanket off of his body to reveal his black pajama pants and grey tank top before stretching and standing up.

“Jaejoong, we’re friends.” He said as he walked over to his closet and opened the door. “You don’t have to call me that. You’re allowed to call me Yunho.” Jaejoong looked down at his feet as Yunho moved the hangers to find his school uniform.

“I know, but it doesn’t feel right.” Jaejoong told him, his voice quitter than before. Yunho wanted to say something else to Jaejoong but found himself become frustrated instead. He stepped away from the closet and slammed the door. Jaejoong jumped up where he stood just before Yunho turned around.

“Where did I put my uniform?” He growled, mostly to himself. Even though he could see Yunho’s anger plainly written on his face, Jaejoong couldn’t help but laugh. Yunho shot him a look that only made Jaejoong laugh harder, his hand reaching up to cover his mouth.

“Yunho-ssi, look behind you.” He said once he had his laughter under control. Yunho’s expression changed from one of anger to one of confusion. He turned around and allowed his jaw to drop as he stared at his navy blue and white school uniform.

“Oh.” Was all he had to say. Jaejoong walked up behind him and placed a firm hand on his shoulder.

“Hurry up and get dressed. I’ll wait for you downstairs but I’m leaving in ten minutes, with or without you.” He said before turning around and exiting Yunho’s room, closing the door gently behind him. Yunho stared at the uniform for a second longer before laughing to himself. He reached up and grabbed the hanger from it’s resting place on the hook and quickly changed into it. After carefully inspecting his appearance in the mirror, he turned and walked over to his desk to grab his backpack. He walked over to the door and opened it, turned the light off, and walked out, closing the door behind him before bounding down the stairs to meet Jaejoong.

Once he was at the foot of the stairs, Yunho looked around the foyer for Jaejoong. He took his cell phone out of his pocket to check the time and noticed that he had only taken five minutes to get ready. He put his poke back in it’s pocket and took a deep breath.

“Jaejoong-ah!” he called out, but all he heard was the fait echo of his voice in the hallway. Suddenly, the bathroom door opened and out walked a boy with very disheveled black hair. Yunho focused on the other boy and laughed a little bit at his appearance. Hearing Yunho’s laughter, the other boy rubbed his right eye with a fist and squinted at Yunho.

“Yunho, why are you yelling? It’s early.” Yunho stopped laughing at looked at the boy who had just spoken. He let out another sigh.

“Hyung, did you see Jaejoong at all?” he asked. The boy just stared at him blankly, blinking quicker than usual.

“Hey, dongsaengie, what makes you think I even saw where I was going this morning? I can’t see a thing without wearing my contacts.” He responded. Yunho let out an exasperated breath and he tilted his head back.

“Taeho hyung, you’re totally useless.” He said, focusing his attention back to his brother. Taeho smiled sarcastically.

“Just doing what I do best.” Yunho rolled his eyes. Just as Yunho turned to walk away from his bothersome brother, Taeho called out to him. “Hey moron, did you bother looking outside? He’s probably waiting for you there.” Yunho felt the sudden rush of heated embarrassment in his cheeks. He turned to hide his face from his brother and walked to the front doors of their rather large estate. He heard Taeho laugh as he walked out.

Once he had stepped out, he looked around until he spotted Jaejoong’s slim figure standing by the front gates. Yunho smiled sheepishly as me began to make his way to his friend.

“Took you long enough!” Jaejoong called, holding his arm up as if to check his watch. Yunho chuckled.

“I was looking for you!” Yunho called back as he approached Jaejoong. Jaejoong smiled at Yunho and threw an arm over his shoulder.

“Whatever. We need to hurry. I don’t want to get scolded for being late again.” Yunho nodded and Jaejoong lowered his arm as the two began to walk to school.

The walk began in silence. Yunho felt too tired to come up with anything to day and Jaejoong was too preoccupied with his cell phone. Once they were about halfway to their destination, Jaejoong put his cell phone back into his pocket and broke the silence.

“Do you have practice after school today?” Jaejoong asked as he moved his hands up to the straps of his backpack, hooking his thumbs behind them. Yunho let out a yawn before looking at Jaejoong.

“Yeah. I don’t understand why we’re starting so early this year. I mean, it’s September, there isn’t even snow on the ground.” Jaejoong let out a breathy laugh.

“That’s what you get for being a varsity hockey player.” He said with the slightest hint of condescension in his voice. Yunho reached out with his right ar and gently punched Jaejoong on the shoulder. Jaejoong let out a gasp and rubbed at the spot Yunho had hit.

“Its not my fault I’m so good at hockey.” Jaejoong just looked at him, an evil twinkle suddenly appearing in his eye.

“Have you ever considered the fact that being the South Korea's prince might have something to do with it?” Jaejoong said teasingly as he looked at Yunho, anticipating his reaction. Yunho raised his right arm for a second time and gritted his teeth before letting his arm drop to his side.

“That’s not the reason and you know it.” Jaejoong looked back ahead and laughed. He knew exactly why he was on the varsity team. Yunho was a pretty incredible hockey player.

“I know, I know.” He said just as they walked under the arch of the school’s entrance. They both stopped just before they heard hurried footsteps come up from behind them. Before they had a chance to look, they each had an arm across their shoulders. They both looked between them only to find a boy standing between him trying to catch his breath.

“Hey. Guys.” The boy panted. Yunho reached up his right arm and patted the boy firmly on the back.

“Just in time today Yoochun.” Yunho said with a smile. Yoochun looked at Yunho and smiled back.

“I think this is a new record.” He said before turning his head to look at Jaejoong who could only laugh. Suddenly, the warning bell sounded and Yoochun dropped his hands from his friends’ shoulders and placed them on his knees to take a couple more laboured breaths.

“We should go before we’re late.” Jaejoong said, garnering a nod from Yunho and a grunt from Yoochun. Jaejoong looked down to Yoochun and nudged him with his left arm. “Meet me in front of my locker after homeroom? You can’t be late today.” He said, his tone rather serious. Yoochun stood up straight and looked Jaejoong in the eyes and nodded.

“I don’t want to be late either. I don’t want to get stuck with Hana again. Bossy bitch.” Yoochun cursed in frustration. Jaejoong and Yunho laughed at Yoochun’s frustration.

“I’ll probably see you guys at lunch then.” Yunho said. “Hey, since it’s still pretty warm, why don’t you come over after school for a swim?” Yunho said to Yoochun. Yoochun looked at him and a perplexed expression.

“Don’t you have practice after school?” He asked. Yunho nodded.

“Yeah, but you can hang out with Jaejoong until it’s finished. It’s not like you two aren’t friends.” Yoochun laughed and looked at Jaejoong.

“How about it, friend?” he asked with a joking tone to his voice. Jaejoong laughed.

“I don’t now.” He said and he shrugged in jest. Yoochun contorted his face into a scowl and hit Jaejoong in the stomach. Jaejoong bent over and held his stomach as he laughed. “Fine, fine, fine. We can hangout.” He said. Yoochun smiled before gently patting Jaejoong on the back. Before any of them could say anything else, the bell to begin class rang. The three of them exchanged panicked glances and, without a word, they ran for the school and hoped that they wouldn’t be punished for being late.
