Kai's Cinderella

Your POV I sigh as I sit there playing with my brother.
He just there’s with his eyes watching Kai in the corner of the room.
He looks at the time and waves to me, “Hwa Young, I’ll see you after school alright?”
I nod and keep playing the games with my brother. Every time I lose and I’m not trying to.
My brother puts down his controller and gives me a hard look, “Are you letting me win?”
I shake my head but look up when I hear a knock at the door.
When I look up I see Exo standing there and Kai looking a bit awkward in the back.
I lean over to my brother and whisper, “If you pretend you don’t know Kai I’ll buy you whatever snack you want.”
He nods his head and looks up at them, but then back at me, “Noona, where’s… noona?”
I look away shocked that he remembered our older sister.
“She’s dead but she had a husband and a daughter if you want you can meet her later alright?”
He nods his head and buries it in my chest, “Ya, Bāozi do you want to meet my new friends from school?”
I introduce him to all of Exo plus Taemin. When I say Xiu Min's nickname my brother laughs and hugs Xiumin.
“Guys this is my little brother that I told you about. Bāozi there’s another one amongst them but since his your hyung let’s try to get them to call you it instead.”
My brother nods his head as he smiles, “Noona is your leg alright?”
I look down to see that my cast is poking out from under my pants, “Not really I had an accident with falling down some stairs.”
“Noona be more careful what if you can’t dance anymore?”
To hide my tears you pull my brother’s head to my chest, “I know but I can’t always be careful. I may love dance but I’m okay without it.”
I let go of his head and walk into his room’s bathroom shutting the door behind me.
When I’m inside I hear my brother ask, “Hyung, what’s wrong with noona?”
“Your noona has been going through a lot lately. She’s been a deep rut but I’m hoping now she’ll start to smile more with you around her.” Tao tells my little brother.
“Hyung, do you like noona?”
“Aniy, not in the way you’re probably thinking. She’s our friend.”
I hear Chanyeol speak to my brother, “Bāozi, do you know why your sister might be sad?”
I hold my breath and wait.
“Ne, our step mom is an evil witch who likes to beat us. Our story is like Cinderella she’s Cinderella and I’m her best friend her to help her find her prince.”
I start to cry so I sit down against the wall.
All these years I thought I hid the truth well enough from my little brother but he saw everything I tried to protect him from. I might have taken over 90 percent of the beatings, but he still got a few himself like the one that had put him in the coma.
As I sit here, I hear my friends bond with my baby brother.
At the end, I hear Tao knock on the bathroom door, “Ya, Hwa Young you should spend the day here with your brother the guys and I are going to head out to school.”
I don’t answer him I simply sit on the floor trying to wipe away my tears.
I hear Kai knock on the door, “Ya, Hwa Young I’ll stop by after school to drop off your homework is that alright?”
Taking a deep breathe I answer him, “You don’t have to do that.”
“I’m stopping by later to see my mother anyways so I might as well.”
I answer with a calm voice, “Alright Kai I’ll see you when you stop by later then.”
“Alright do you want to guys to come with me?”
“No, it’ll be okay if they don’t come with I’d hate to ruin more of their day then I already have.”
“That’s not true,” you cut him off.
“Kai please just do this for me, please. I don’t need them to see me like this.”
I hear him jiggle the door and when he opens it, he’s standing in front of me.
“Hwa Young,” he kneels in front of me, “If you are afraid that they’ll see you as weak you’re wrong. Seeing you like this we can see your strength. We know what you’ve been through and all this time you’ve survived and became stronger. So you’re not weak or a burden instead you helped create a new world for us to look at and join. Because of you we are even closer friends we don’t’ fight as much and stick together more.”
I looked up shocked by his words, “Why are you saying this, Jongin?”
“It’s because I care about you as a friend. You were the 1st person besides my friends to stick up for me. You were never once afraid of me like the other girls are even though they claim to like me. You didn’t try to stick onto me and you didn’t’ change yourself. I know that there isn’t much I know about you, but I’d like to change that because you’re all I ever seem to have on my mind lately.”
He hugs me and I can’t help but to start crying again.
Dr. Kim’s POV I walk into Kwan’s room to notice that his sister isn’t in the room.
I shrug my shoulders as I hear my son’s voice talking with Hwa Young.
His words tell me that he seems to care an awful lot about Hwa Young.
That’s something she needs in her life, someone to love her with all their might.
I walk to the bathroom door to find Hwa Young crying in my son’s arms.
They are so cute together.
I wonder when they will notice the feelings they have for each other.
I think Kai will notice 1st.
